As a gamer console and PC gamer who works from their laptop, travels with their whole PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch at least once a week. In the same week, I'm either a Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master or player, meaning I also drag several large D&D books (including extra Player's Handbooks for the table), an iPad Pro, and a slew of dice with a large bag for myself and an extra bag of dice for anyone else at the table.

PostsI haven't even mentioned dice trays, boxes of mini figures, and my water bottle, which've got to come along as well. I usually carry two bags with me twice a week, and finally, I've been able to comfortably carry a single bag for all my needs, and that's the Swissgear gamer backpack. This thing can fit your entire PS5 and then some... it's that spacious. So, is it the perfect backpack for you? Let's find out.
This review is based on the usage and capabilities of the Swissgear USB Gaming Laptop Backpack. It covers everything you can do with it, the spacious nature, and its utility based on how you might use the product. We spent some hands-on time with the Swissgear backpack for this review.

So, what exactly do you get with this backpack? Let's talk features. You'll get the following features when you grab the Swissgear USB gaming laptop backpack
- Mesh charging pocket inside the backpack.
- Integrated USB power port (you'll need to provide your own charger).
- Fleece-lined pockets for your fragile items.
- Zip pocket for cords and cables.
- Wire reinforced handle
- Padded laptop compartment
- Water Bottle Pocket
- Strap to attach backpack to carry luggage
There are literally just so many working parts on this backpack that, at first, it may feel overwhelming. When you start to utilize it, though, there's a place for everything and great ways to keep everything in its place. There are three separate openings in the backpack, each that utilizes a different accessory.
Front Compartment - For Your Peripherals
The front pocket of the backpack is smaller than the others but is labeled for holding your controllers with two central pockets inside the front. Smaller than the other two compartments, it's decent for accessories but doesn't have any security for stored items.
There's even a small hidden zipper compartment for even more storage on the front right side of the backpack. You really can find a place for everything you need with this one.
Second Compartment - Your Most Utilized And Spacious Area
CloseThe big draw for this backpack is everything included in this second pocket. There are labeled sections for your keyboard, mouse, accessories, etc, but this section also has the padding you'd expect for a backpack like this. Here, you've got a strap to securely hold your accessories, and it's surprisingly spacious enough to hold your entire PS5 vertically, with the stand included. There's also a pocket with a zipper, perfect for carrying all of your cords and cables without getting them lost or loose within the backpack.
Two notable features here include the hook at the top that can be unclipped to hold your headphones and the small mesh pocket to hold your power pack. Connect the power pack to the included USB, and it becomes a built-in USB charger that connects outside the backpack and into your items.
At one point, I had my PlayStation headphones, PlayStation Portal, and Steam Deck inside of its case all popped into pockets here, and they all fit nicely with room to spare. Even as a portable device backpack, it works well.
The Back Compartment - Laptop Safety
While it's pretty slim, the back compartment has padding and two elastic straps to hold your laptop or tablet. It is wide enough to hold more than one, but you may not want the two touching each other. It has the thickest padding available in the backpack and is deep enough to fit the biggest backpacks. It's advertised to hold a laptop as large as 17 inches, and I distatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/'t test it with one that big, but it's easy to see it'll fit perfectly.

PostsTons Of Different Ways To Use The Backpack
Built For Every Type Of Gamer
This backpack is built for every type of gamer. As briefly mentioned previously, with so many compartments and so much space, you can do more than just pack your gaming laptop. It is not only just good for gaming peripherals, though; the middle compartment is large enough to hold full board games. Because the bottom is so wide you'll be able to stack several board games into the backpack at once and travel to tabletop game night.
We stacked the large box of Betrayal at House on the Hill, Pandemic, Deception: Murder In Hong Kong, Werewolf, Werewords, Codenames, and Roll For It all in the backpack comfortably and zipped it securely. While we did use multiple compartments, it was an easy and comfortable fit.
Being able to stack your board games on your back without having to carry them in a large bag or by hand will truly change the way you travel with them.
TCG players aren't left out, either. Stack your deck boxes and several Disney Lorcana troves or Elite Trainer Boxes into the backpack for travel. Pop your TCG accessories and your full card binders for trading. If you're a traveling gamer, you can bring whatever type of gaming you intend to do with you easily.
I was able to fit six Disney Lorcana trove boxes and my trading binder in the backpack with me to local's night, and it was a perfect alternative to carrying so many cards with me at once.
Comfort And Utility
Perfect For More Than Just Gamers
CloseWhile comfort was clearly in mind, a large backpack with heavy items and peripherals would still feel heavy, and this backpack does. While some of that weight is distributed in a way that doesn't make it feel as heavy as all of the items you have inside, you'll still feel it.
To combat that, there's a lot of padding around the backpack to help you bear the burden. The straps themselves are easily adjustable and decently padded, though it could use a bit more padding to be a tad bit softer.
The back of the backpack has four padded sections in ideal spots: two for your upper back, separated by a small space for airflow, and one large section for the bottom. Not having the backpack sitting flush with your back on each part does actually allow for some breathing room, making the airflow section actually useful.
While I would have liked for the padded portions to be a bit softer, they work perfectly fine as they are, even when carrying a large load.
There's also a surprise zipper on the backpack's bottom half, right above the padding, for even more storage.
As far as utility goes, you can use this gaming backpack for travel as well. While using it, I kept thinking how awesome it would be as a carry-on backpack when traveling. With so many options for holding items, padded portions for heavy carrying, and a large and expandable middle section, even non-gamers can benefit from this backpack.
From the strap to hold it sitting on top of your rolling luggage to the USB charger you can use for your phone or other devices while traveling, the Swissgear USB gaming laptop backpack is perfect for all types of travel, not just gaming.
It's also a backpack of very good, durable quality. You won't feel like it'll break, despite the amount you can stuff inside.

Nothing Is Perfect
With so many add-ons and options that work well it can seem the backpack is perfect. There are however a few issues worth pointing out.
USB Charger
While the charger itself is nice, the pouch for holding your charging pack is a bit small. It distatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/'t fit either of my Anker portable power banks. You may have to let your cable hang inside the backpack.
Design
For a gaming backpack, it is very simple and plain design-wise. An all-black backpack with slight blue highlighting
More Padding Would Be Nice
While the padded section for your laptop is great, the other compartments don't have the same level of padding. You'll need to be cognizant when transporting full consoles, laptops, and more accessories. While you shoulstatic.aayyy.com/topic/dn/'t have issues, it's worth considering packing some cushioning in between.

We loved the Swissgear USB Gaming Backpack. It met all of our needs and exceeded expectations with everything it could do and fit inside of it. It's hard to go back or find a replacement that has as many sections and useable accessories built-in. Good, solid quality, easy to store when not in use, and to expand when in use.
