Summary

  • Most tryhard Fortnite skins focus on slender models and uniform colors to blend in and appeal to high-effort players.
  • Notable skins like Renegade Raider are rare and exclusive, attracting players seeking clout and rarity.
  • Popular skins among sweaty players, like Siren and Focus, combine style with tryhard elements.

Fortnite has well over a thousand skins at this point. So needless to say, there is something for everyone here. Everything from your favorite Marvel hero, to your favorite type of athlete, to a banana man with half of his grisly banana-man skeleton exposed. There is a ton of variety here.

But skins aren't just for aesthetics; some people value a different element of these skins altogether. The high-effort players are known for valuing the more slender models that obscure less of the screen, skins with more uniform color pallets to help them blend in better in certain environments, and skins that have been embraced by high-profile players (who often value the previous aspects as well). Those are the skins we are going to celebrate today. The sweatier the better!

Updated February 28th, 2025 by James Kennedy: As time passes, and the days turn into months, and the months into years, we can be certain of one thing: sweats gonna sweat. Yes, we've come back to update this list with two more skins. This time around, however, we've decided to get two long-overlooked entries out of the way. These were two glaring omissions, and it is time for them to take their place in the pantheon.

18 Catwoman

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season X

Cost

1,500 V-Bucks

Some of the skins that have become synonymous with the 'tryhard' player make you scratch your head a little; Others, however, fit like a glove. The Catwoman skin fits into the latter category. Lean silhouette? Check. Blacked out profile? Check. And to top it all off, she's an iconic character from one of the most popular IPs in the world.

However, there is one area where Catwoman doesn't fare quite as well: she is far from being exclusive. In fact, Catwoman is frequently available, and is among the most used skins in the entire game. So, it isn't just the sweats using her: everyone is using her. Nonetheless, it is undeniable that a certain type of player is drawn to her, so if you run into a Catwoman in the wild (and with her popularity, you will), don't be surprised when the claws come out.

17 Par Patroller

Release Date

Chapter 2 - Season 3

Cost

800 V-Bucks

When I'm updating this list, I try to grab the picks that are interesting, and that are relevant in the moment, but that means that some obvious choices end up getting sidelined - that is the case with the Par Patroller. But it is time to acknowledge her, as she is, unquestionably, among the sweatiest skins in the game.

We've got that slim profile again, with another largely uniform color palette. Speaking of color palettes, hers featuring a green that is awfully close to the shade used for the grass in Fortnite may play a role in her popularity among the tryhards. Basically, she conforms to many of the archetypes, so it shouldn't be a surprise that she's popular among those players. I guess you could say that this skin is par for the course.

16 April O'Neil

Release Date

Chapter 5 - Season 1

Cost

1,500 V-Bucks

April O'Neil has landed in the world of Fortnite alongside the eponymous Ninja Turtles themselves. However, unlike the bigger-bodied turtles (shells are going to do that to you), April's slimmer model has clearly garnered her the attention of the sweatier players. We're sure her popularity was also accelerated by a few notable streamers running with this skin.

While the April costume has certain elements that you would expect to see in a skin popular among the tryhard players, it is also missing some of the key elements we've come to expect. Most notably, it doesn't have that uniform color scheme. Well, either way, we're not mad at this modern redesign of the iconic reporter. We actually think she looks pretty slick. So, at least you'll be getting sniped midair by a snazzy-looking skin.

15 Peter Griffin

Release Date

Chapter 5 - Season 1

Cost

Battle Pass Exclusive

This one is... weird. While we've seen skins eschew certain elements you tend to see in sweaty skins, this is the first one that has seemingly none of them? Peter Griffin doesn't have a slim frame, nor does he have a uniform color scheme. He sticks out like a sore thumb!

Our best theory on this one is that his higher position on the battle pass made him harder to acquire, so the skin is a bit of a flex. Or, hey, the skin is also pretty trolly, right? So, maybe that is playing a factor here? Fortniters, like all other denizens of the internet, are known to troll from time to time. Hell, maybe people just like Family Guy. We don't have a great answer here! What we can say is that this has become the go-to skin for sweaty players as of late. God help us all.

14 Nog Ops

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season 1

Cost

800 V-Bucks

Given that we are updating this list in the heart of December, it is only right that we finally add Nog Ops to the list. The Nog Ops version of Headhunter is an enduring skin among sweats all year round, but it makes sense that you would start to see them when it is the season to be jolly, as the sweater-clad sweat skin is bursting with holiday cheer.

It doesn't have all the hallmarks of your classic try-hard skin, not being a single color and all, but, at the end of the day, this skin has the 'it factor'. Which is to say, the sweaty players wear it as they trample all over your corpse.

13 Ruby

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season 10

Cost

1,200 V-Bucks

Yes, the time has finally come, you knew it was going to happen: we are finally digging into Ruby. Ever since her launch in 2019, Ruby has been a mainstay favorite of the dedicated Fortniter. While this is a pretty simple look, it is also undeniably clean.

What is maybe most surprising about Ruby is that her bright red getup appears to be the most popular variant, despite there being a version with a darker color palette. You'd think the bright red would give away your advantage, but I guess the heart wants what the heart wants. Of course, beyond the color, she does have that classic slim frame to eek out the tiniest of advantages.

12 Aura

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season 8

Cost

800 V-Bucks

How did we ever create a sweaty skin list without Aura? This skin is absolutely iconic. While it doesn't have all the traits of the most tryhardy of tryhard skins—in that it is readily available and cheap—it is still a hallmark sweat skin nonetheless. Why has Aura gained this reputation? Well, more than anything, it seems like she just ended up being tethered to a number of notable skilled players who post content on YouTube.

Aura does have that classic slim frame that people look for in sweaty Fortnite skins. She is also a pretty old skin at this point, having released in 2019 (that's ancient for Fortnite). Maybe the fact that she has stayed relevant for so long is what has made her so popular. Or hey, maybe the bling and the backward hat just speaks to tryhard Fortnite players.

11 Crystal

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season 10

Cost

800 V-Bucks

Slim frame? Check. Expensive? Check. Dark Color scheme? Well, that's another checkaroony, partner. As you can see, Crystal has all the elements that people have come to expect from the sweatiest Fortnite skins. It is no wonder, then, that she seemed to be absolutely everywhere for a solid stretch of time. If you saw Crystal coming, you knew it was time to clench your butt, as you were going to have to give max effort.

Crystal's time on the throne has passed. She is no longer the symbol of the sweats, but even if she is used less often, that doesn't mean that she isn't still extremely popular among that dedicated style of player. Despite the seemingly unending release of new skins, we suspect that in a decade will still see Crystals terrorizing the world of Fortnite. At this point, she is an institution.

10 Mat Master

Release Date

Chapter 2 - Season 9

Cost

800 V-Bucks

The Mat Master is a great example of what makes a great sweaty skin. She is part of the Cobra Kai pack and is easily the most tryhard skin of the bunch. Mat Master has a black gi and black hair, which gives her that uniform color scheme. Pair her dark color pallet with her smaller frame and you have a service-built sweat skin.

Though, one thing the Mat Master doesn't have is any exclusivity. She has been widely available since she launched. Some of the sweatiest skins tend to be a little on the rarer side. On the plus side, this means that anyone is free to get their sweat on while playing as a badass karate fighter!

9 Dynamo

Release Date

Chapter 1 - Season 5

Cost

1,200 V-Bucks

Dynamo has become something of an icon in the world of sweaty Fortnite skins. She comes equipped with that slender frame, which helps those high-effort players with their frame of view. However, interestingly, she doesn't have that uniform dark color scheme that so many of the sweaty skins tend to rock.

It is hard to understand exactly why, but a number of high-profile streamers have used her, which has seemingly given Dynamo her tryhard reputation. Honestly, she is a decent luchador skin and despite what some of the vitriolic opinions online may say about her, we think she has a nice look to her. More than anything, Dynamo is here because of her reputation. As she doesn't have all the sweatiest qualities.
