Bad News Everyone, Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 On Switch Will Be $70

The long-awaited announcement of Super Mario Galaxy 2's Switch port has been dampened a bit, as it's been confirmed to cost $40 on its own and $70 as part of a bundle with the first game.
Nintendo just held one of its biggest Directs of all time a few hours ago, and it came with a lot of announcements and reveals. As great as it is to get a new Fire Emblem game and DLC for Donkey Kong Bananza, the highlight of the show for me was the long-awaited reveal that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is getting ported to the Switch.
This port has clearly been timed to capitalise on the second Mario Bros. movie, which is called The Super Mario Bros. Galaxy Movie.
Mario fans have wanted to see Galaxy 2 on the Switch ever since it was strangely left out of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Beyond a few new pages in Rosalina's storybook, it seems that Galaxy 2 is a pretty straightforward remaster, which makes its high price tag a bit of a downer on the whole announcement.
Super Mario Galaxy 2's Switch Remaster Will Cost $40
The First Game Will Cost Just As Much
As soon as Super Mario Galaxy 1+2 were shown off during the Nintendo Direct, I think we all knew that it was going to be more expensive than we'd like. That's been confirmed to be the case, as Twitter user Wario64 has shared a link to the game's Nintendo Store page that confirms each game will cost a whopping $40.
That's right, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are going to set you back $40 each, despite seeming like fairly simplistic remasters in the grand scheme of things. That's the whole cost of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, which contained three whole games, one of them being Super Mario Galaxy.
Nintendo does refer to both games as "enhanced" versions, so it seems like they're a bit more involved than the 3D All-Stars release of Galaxy.
There is a slight discount on offer, though, as buying both games in one bundle will only set you back $70 instead of the $80 it'd cost to buy both individually. If you missed out on Super Mario Galaxy in 3D All-Stars a few years ago, this is your chance to get both for a slightly less painful amount of money.
