Still, sooner or later, your adventure will end — there's only so much a game can offer. So, suppose you're looking for other experiences. In that case, there are a few games you can try with similar shooter mechanics, gear sets, and multiplayer modes so you can enjoy the experience with friends. Or maybe you just want other titles based on DC franchises.

7 Borderland Series

Similar Mechanics, But Bigger

Borderlands 3

First-Person Shooter Action RPG 4.0/5 Developer(s) Gearbox Software Multiplayer Online Multiplayer, Online Co-Op, Local Co-Op Platform(s) Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S Powered by Expand Collapse

If you want multiple games to enjoy right away, you can start with the amazing Borderlands series. A first-person looter-shooter, the premise is quite similar gameplay-wise: choose a character, level them up, and get better equipment for them in the process.

The series also comes with fun and exciting stories for you to follow through, filled with amazing dramatic moments and a lot of comedy, which is a thing not many game series strive for, sadly. Expect action and mayhem at every corner.

6 Helldivers 2

More Wacky Shooting For You

Helldivers 2

Platform(s) Powered by Expand Collapse

Another excellent example of a satirical shooter is Helldivers 2, where your mission is to re-conquer Earth from an invasion. Here you have multiple missions fighting hordes of bug-like enemies, taking points, and leveling your character up as you go. What's so cool about it is that the title gives you the freedom to choose your gear and weapons, without having to worry about class or character limitations.

It's also a fun experience you can have with friends in a squad of up to four players, where you and your friends will be free to play together from the very beginning — similar to other entries here — and have the entire experience together.

5 Destiny 2

Free With MMO Mechanics Included

Destiny 2

FPS Developer(s) Bungie Multiplayer Online Multiplayer, Online Co-Op Platform(s) PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC, Stadia Powered by Expand Collapse

Going back to first person, Destiny 2 offers similar mechanics to Suicide Squad and Borderlands, but the scale is significantly bigger, as it also functions as an MMO: a multiplayer game with a lot of people - though your squad is limited to three or six depending on the mission.

Still, between creating your character, getting all the gear you want, and venturing throughout the whole story (with multiple expansions that you can also get), you'll get your hands full here with a game that will last for a long time. And Destiny 2 is free, which is always nice.

4 Warframe

Free, And With More Melee Options

Warframe

Third-Person Shooter 4.0/5 Developer(s) Digital Extremes Platform(s) PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, Switch Powered by Expand Collapse

Warframe is one more title that follows the same premise of a looter-shooter, being a similar experience to most entries listed thus far while also being free. One of its biggest differences, however, is how you can improve your melee strikes significantly compared to previous entries — though keep in mind that the game's focus is still shooting.

It also has mechanics for both playing with someone else and having player versus player modes so that the game can be either a cooperative or a competitive experience. It's a good way to find out who's been carrying whom between you and your friends.

3 Tom Clancy's The Division 2

For A More Grounded Shooter

Tom Clancy's The Division 2

Third-Person Shooter Developer(s) Massive Entertainment Platform(s) PS4, PC, Xbox One, Stadia Powered by Expand Collapse

Suppose you want a bigger focus on the multiplayer experience. In that case, whether it's co-op or PvP, The Division is a wonderful take, and it has a more grounded gameplay compared to other entries, with fewer powers, magic, or whatever concept other games use to justify what is going on.

Thus, the game offers a bit more of a tactical experience, relying on covers, team coordination, grenades, and others to achieve your goals, though you still get the looter-shooter experience and a game that keeps changing over time due to being a life-service, as other entries here do.

2 Gotham Knights

Same Premise, Different Controls

Gotham Knights

Action RPG Developer(s) WB Games Montreal Platform(s) PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5 Powered by Expand Collapse

Imagine Suicide Squad, but with no guns and more punching (unless you want to play as Red Hood, then you get both). You still get to venture around, complete missions, upgrade characters, and enjoy a story mode by yourself or in co-op (max of two players this time, though), but the gameplay is focused on melee combat rather than shooting people.

Still, you have a fun story mode to explore, four characters to choose from with different mechanics and playstyles, and special modes where four players can venture through together. It's a DC game, too, so you can recognize some faces (although it's a separate universe from Suicide Squad).

1 Honorable Mention - Batman: Arkham Series

Same Universe, Different Games Entirely

via Rocksteady

Batman: Arkham Knight

Action Developer(s) Rocksteady Studios Platform(s) PS4, Xbox One, PC Powered by Expand Collapse

In case the plot in Suicide Squad caught your attention, we have good news for you: There are more and better stories for you to enjoy here.

This game takes place in the same universe as the critically acclaimed Batman video games developed by Rocksteady, containing the following games in release order: Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City, Batman: Arkham Origins, and Batman: Arkham Knight.

These titles are completely different in terms of gameplay experience, being open-world, single-player, story-driven games focused on melee combat and stealth segments, with the most similar example in this list being Gotham Knights. However, you can also compare its gameplay with games such as Marvel's Spider-Man.

Still, if you're looking for a fresh experience, you have a great story to enjoy, especially if you are a DC fan — though, let's face it, if you're a DC fan, you've probably played them by now.
