Street Fighter Movie Might Have Already Found Its Ken And Ryu
The Street Fighter movie has had something of a turbulent time of it recently. Originally set for March 20, 2026, Legendary removed it from its upcoming line-up last month, casting doubts as to its future. This came after directors Danny and Michael Philippou left the project for unknown reasons, blamed vaguely on scheduling. The Phillippou brothers enjoyed success with their indie horror debut Talk To Me, and previously found fame under the moniker RackaRacka on YouTube.

PostsHowever, it seems like progress on Street Fighter is hotting up again, after rumours emerge that two notable names are being eyed as the film's central duo of Ryu and Ken: Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo. Any news is good news at this stage for Street Fighter fans.
Kitao Sakurai, who directed the Twisted Metal TV series, replaced the Phillippou brothers in the directors chair.
Andrew Koji And Noah Centineo Are In Talks To Play Ken And Ryu
CloseThis comes via Nexus Point News, who claim the duo would be the first cast members to sign on. It's unknown who else will be in the cast, but it's likely we'll see the big names like Chun-Li and Cammy join the party too, as well as possibly new characters like Juri.
Centineo is definitely the bigger name of the pair. He recently played Atom Smasher in the ill-fated DC movie Black Adam, and is also in the recently released A24 movie Warfare. He also appeared in the (similarly ill-fated) 2019 Charlie's Angels remake. However, many will know him best from his charming turn as the central love interest Peter Kavinsky in the To All The Boys I've Loved Before trilogy.

PostsWhile Andrew Koji is less established, he brings a lot of talent to the role. A professional martial artist with dozens of stage credits to his name that showcase his abilities, he's also worked as a stunt double in the Fast & Furious series. However, he's no stranger to character work either, even if his characters often kick people in the face. He appeared in Snake Eyes as the GI Joe character Storm Shadow, as well as having roles inn Bullet Train and Boy Kills World.
It also wouldn't be Koji's first time in the world of video games - he plays Hien Rijin in Final Fantasy 14 and Erlang Shen in last year's smash hit success Black Myth: Wukong. Hopefully, despite the bumps along the way, Street Fighter's movie can be just as successful whenever it releases, which will probably be late 2026 or even 2027.
