Starfield is just a few weeks away, and Bethesda is going all out to try and get everyone excited for launch. After releasing a complete timeline of the game's history to pour over, Starfield lead designer Emil Pagliarulo and lead quest designer Will Shen took to the game's Discord channel to hold a Q&A. Because of this, we now have a bunch more info about Starfield to sink our teeth into, including the reveal that the game will have over 20 companions that you can recruit and travel around with.

We already know that Starfield has what is considered to be four main companions who are from Constellation. These individuals will have the most story and player interaction, but Shen has explained that there are "20 named characters who can join your crew". Shen says that every one of these characters will have their own backgrounds, and Pagliarulo follows that up by saying that there's are "a lot of talented actors bringing those characters to life."

On top of that, a bunch of features present in Starfield were also revealed for the first time, including the confirmation that Starfield will include housing players can buy or earn. Pagliarulo explains that every major city in Starfield will have a house you can buy, and that one can even be ehard by completing something, presumably a quest.

We also found out that Starfield does have laws, which means you can be thrown in jail if you commit crimes. Pagliarulo says that Starfield's Settled Systems is "more like Skyrim than Fallout 4's Commonwealth", meaning law enforcement is in place to make sure no one is up to any wrongdoing. Just like with Skyrim, if you are caught elbow deep in a stranger's belongings, you can choose to either pay a fine, take the jail time, or try to escape.

Factions are another big part of the standard Bethesda RPG experience, and you'll be pleased to know that every one can be tackled and completed independently. Therte might be some overlap with some factions, such as The Crimson Fleet and the UC SysDef, but you should be able to complete them all with a little bit of forward thinking.

Other small yet important details from the Q&A include the fact that companions will only require a one-off payment to be recruited, mechs can be found in the game but you can't ride them yourself, and that there are systems in place for pacifists, but you can't finish the game without killing anyone. If you want to read all the answers yourself, you can either join Starfield's official Discord channel, or check out this post on ResetEra by vixolus summing up the entire Q&A.
