The galaxy is teeming with life in Starfield. There are all manner of alien fauna and flora. So when traveling to Neon of Volii Alpha, an aquatic planet flooded by one giant ocean, the mind only drifts to what creatures could be dwelling in the depths. Since Neon is the only place you can land on the planet, surveying Volli Alpha is extremely easy if you know where to look.

There are no flora or resources to gather while on the planet, making it a quick buck to survey. However, although there are only two types of fauna to scan, their numbers are limited and can be tricky to find.

Where To Find Fauna On Neon

Neon was originally a fishing platform built by the Xenofresh Corporation. However, Neon was converted into a city once the corporation discovered that Chasmbass had hallucinogenic properties that could be used to create the time-bending Aurora drug.

Since there are only two creatures to scan on Volli Alpha, earning the planet survey slate is well worth your time, as you can sell this to Vladamir on the Eye space station to earn six thousand credits.

Description

Hunting Sharkwhale

Hunting Sharkwhale can only be found swimming underneath Neon Core.

Despite its name, the Sharkwhale is a peaceful aquatic alien; however, it will become hostile if attacked.

Toxin can be harvested from Sharkwhales. However, they can be difficult to hunt since they can dive deep into the ocean. In addition, they have the extra health ability, meaning you can find Sharkwhales with 200 health all the way up to 1080! If you kill them, they will rise to the surface, allowing you to loot them.

Sharkwhales are much rarer than the Chasmbass, and you may need to fast-travel out of the Volii system and reenter to spawn more of them.

Chasmbass

Chasmbass can only be found swimming underneath Neon Core.

Chasmbass have a peaceful temperament and can only be found in ocean biomes. Sharkwhales hunt them, so you'll often find several dead Chasmbass floating on the surface, making them easy to scan.

Chasmbass has 70 health, and Chasmbass Oil can be looted from them. Chasmbass Oil is a crafting component for crafting the Aurora drug.

If no more Sharkwhales or Chasmbass spawn, you can fast travel away and back to Neon to respawn them, allowing you to scan them quickly.
