Apart from farming and fishing in Stardew Valley, you can also go to the different mines and dungeons to get ores and engage in combat. While in these dangerous areas, you'll come across various enemies with differing levels of strength. Stronger enemies will deal more damage and drop better loot.

PostsAs the monsters you come across get stronger, you'll need to be better equipped to face them. You can put on pieces of equipment to improve your chances of surviving. A piece of equipment you can have is a trinket, and these come with various abilities. One such trinket is the Fairy Box.
How To Get A Fairy Box
In order to start finding trinkets, you'll first need to unlock Combat Mastery. This is one of the rewards available in the Mastery Cave, and it gives a number of new recipes, in addition to the ability to find trinkets.
In order to get this reward, you'll need to first unlock the Mastery Cave. This cave is a location hidden in the mountains found in the southeast corner of Cindersap Forest. Along the edge of the mountain, you'll find a door leading to the cave.
The door to the Mastery Cave will be locked until you master all the skills. This means that you'll need to reach level ten in farming, fishing, foraging, mining, and combat.
Skill
How To Gain Experience Points
Farming
Harvest crops and take care of animals.
Fishing
Pick up foraged goods and chop wood with an axe.
Foraging
Complete the fishing mini-game and catch creatures using Crab Pots.
Mining
Break rocks with a pickaxe or with bombs.
Combat
Defeat enemies.
Once you've mastered all the skills, the door to the Mastery Cave should be unlocked. Head inside in order to find all the skill mastery pillars.
Each pillar represents a skill, and Combat Mastery is represented by a sword.
To unlock a mastery skill pillar, you'll first need to clear a level of mastery points. The current mastery points you have and the number of levels you've unlocked can be viewed using the pedestal in the center of the Mastery Cave.
The pedestal will read, "The final path". The first level requires you to obtain 10,000 mastery points, and each level above that will require 5,000 points more than the previous level in total.
Mastery points are simply experience points, and you can gain more by performing actions in any skill.
Once you've completed a level of mastery points, you'll receive a notification that reads, "You've reached a new level of understanding...". You can then head back to the Mastery Cave and unlock the pillar for Combat Mastery.
Once you have Combat Mastery, trinkets like the Fairy Box can start appearing as drops from enemies, containers, and treasure chests in the mines and dungeons.
A great way to look for trinkets is to head to the Skull Cavern. This area has several treasure chest floors that can possibly hold a trinket inside, and there is roughly a 0.6% chance that the trinket you'll find is a Fairy Box.
You can increase the odds of finding a Fairy Box through luck. The daily luck you receive, as dictated by the fortune teller's television program, can affect your chances of finding one. Consuming items that give you luck buffs will also help in your search for a Fairy Box.
Equipping the Burglar's Ring will not increase your chances at finding a Fairy Box as a drop from defeated enemies. Instead, you can use Monster Musk in order to double the number of monsters in an area, increasing the odds of obtaining a Fairy Box.
A Fairy Box appears as a pink box, and hovering over it will reveal what level the fairy inside is.
How To Use A Fairy Box
Once you have a Fairy Box, you can equip it by putting it in your trinket slot.
Your trinket slot can be found in your inventory menu, and it's right next to your hat slot.
Once you have the Fairy Box equipped, a small fairy will appear and will start following you around. They can follow you everywhere, inside or outside the mines and dungeons.
Your fairy will not take damage from monsters or explosions.
This fairy companion is very useful in combat, because it heals you for a certain amount, depending on what level it is. Fairies of higher levels can heal you at higher frequencies, and can restore a higher amount of health.
Take note that a fairy only heals you while you're in a combat setting. Your fairy will not heal you, unless damage is being dealt or received.
There are eight different styles of fairies available, but you will only get one fairy style per game file or multiplayer player slot. The fairy sprites are the same for every Fairy Box, but different game saves will have a particular color combination.
How To Level Up A Fairy
The level of the Fairy Box you find is random, but those of a higher level have a lower chance of appearing. The lowest level of a Fairy Box is level one, and the highest is level five.

How much a fairy can heal you for is dependent on how much damage you deal or receive since you were last healed.
The amount is the cube root of the total damage, up to ten percent of your total health, multiplied by the fairy's healing percentage level. Then, 25 percent is added or subtracted to that total to get the final amount of total healing granted by your fairy.
You can change the level of a fairy you've found, but you'll need to use your Fairy Box on an anvil to do it. The recipe for crafting an anvil is one of the rewards you receive when youunlock Combat Mastery.
To craft an anvil, you'll need 50 iron bars.
When you've placed your anvil, you can use it to re-roll the stats of your trinkets, but you'll need three iridium bars per attempt. The stat you re-roll for fairies on an anvil will be its level, affecting its healing frequency and its healing power.
It's possible for your fairy to remain at the same level when you attempt to re-roll its stats on an anvil.
As with the drop chances, the odds of getting a higher leveled fairy are slimmer when re-rolling the Fairy Box on an anvil.

What Can You Do With A Fairy
Apart from using your Fairy Box as a trinket, there are other things you can do with it.
You can sell the Fairy Box for 1,000 gold to Marlon at the Adventurer's Guild.
You can also give Fairy Boxes as gifts to the different villagers. They'll have different reactions to it, but Jas in particular loves receiving this as a gift. In fact, Jas will have a unique dialogue for this present.
The Wizard also likes receiving Fairy Boxes, but the rest of the villagers dislike receiving them as a present.
