Your best bet is to hold onto some of these Books. When the Bookseller comes to town, he'll have items that you can obtain by trading them in. But which books are worth taking up space in your chests or backpack? This list will make that clear.

10 Jewels Of The Sea

Cave, River, Or Sea Jelly

When you're fishing, you're likely to come across a copy of Jewels Of The Sea sooner rather than later. This book grants you the power to find fish roe in fishing treasure chests.

It's also a Book Of Power you'll come across often. Save them and trade for one of the three fishing jellies. These jellies can help you with crafting and, if you don't like fishing often, you'll be in a jelly bind and trading these books in will help.

When a book has multiple items you can get from trading, only one of the options will be available each time the Bookseller visits Pelican Town.

9 Woodcutter's Weekly

100 Wood

Wood can be hard to come by at times. Between chopping down nearly every tree or not having the money to spend at Robin's, there may be times you're running low on this all important resource.

Hardwood is an important resource in Stardew Valley. Here's how and where you can farm it, as well as what you'll be needing it for.

If you come across any copies of Woodcutter's Weekly that you don't need, trade them to the Bookseller for 100 pieces of wood. This is never a bad move, because so many things require wood for crafting and progression.

8 Two Monster Compendiums

Slime Egg-Press Or Slime Incubator

Slaying monsters can award you with, you guessed it, Monster Compendiums. They drop these like loot, and you can keep them to trade in to the Bookseller.

If you trade two of these Books, you can get a Slime Egg-Press or Slime Incubator, depending on the Bookseller's inventory that day. This will save you a lot of resources to make either of these items on your own.

7 Mining Monthly

20 Coal

Grinding for coal can be a hassle. Killing so many dust sprites that don't always appear in the Mines. And it's so expensive to buy coal from Clint, especially after he raises his prices.

So being able to trade in a Mining Monthly for 20 coal can make or break your furnace operations or your crafting goals. Just like wood, it's an important material that you can run out of really quickly.

6 Woody's Secret

20 Hardwood

Different verse, same as the first. Hardwood is another resource that is so key to progression of the game and your farm, but after you clear out your farm, the most hardwood you'll usually be getting is from the Secret Woods.

So trading one book in for 20 Hardwood can really help get you to the amount you need, no matter what you're planning on using it for.

5 Bait And Bobber

30 Deluxe Bait

Deluxe bait can make fishing easier if it's something you struggle with. And if you're a large mouth bass pro, it doesn't hurt using this brand of bait, especially if you're trying to catch some legendary fish.

You can buy Deluxe Bait from Willy, but it will cost you 100g each. Ouch. You can also craft it using bait and moss. But getting 30 for the price of one Book? Priceless. Well, actually, it's worth 3,000g, but still.

4 Combat Quarterly

Monster Musk

Remember the bit about dust sprites never appearing as often as you need them to? Monster Musk fixes that by filling the different combat areas with more monsters.

And that's what you could get for trading in Combat Quarterly. There's no reason not to as this item can help you so much in either gathering resources from monsters, or completing the Monster Eradication Goals.

3 Treasure Appraisal Guide

Three Spicy Eel Or Three Artifact Troves

The Treasure Appraisal Guide is a powerful Book Of Power that will make it so that when you sell artifacts, they sell for three times their original price.

So saving these books to turn them into the Bookseller can either give you three spicy eel, which you can use in the Skull Cavern, or you can get artifact troves, which you can break open for the artifacts and then sell for three times their price. It's like it was perfectly planned that way. Hm.

2 Book Of Mysteries

Seven Mystery Boxes

Are you feeling lucky? Even if you aren't, mystery boxes contain an amazing amount of items that range from helpful to high-priced goods you can sell to make a nice chunk of change.

Not only is it fun to see what you get, but these items can be so useful, like ores, rings, and hardwood. Or, they could net you profit, like finding a treasure chest tucked inside. They can even contain other Books.

1 Book Of Stars

Eight Fairy Dust

Fairy Dust is an expensive item to craft. It requires a diamond and a fairy rose. It can also be a while before you can unlock the crafting recipe, since you have to complete The Pirate's Wife quest.

So not just getting one, or two, but eight fairy dust all in one go? That's an incredible deal! It's a rare book, so it might take a while to find extras, but when you do, run to your nearest Bookseller to trade it in.
