Update 01/02/2024 21:24GMT - A Ubisoft spokesperson has claimed that the Disney Parks blog post is incorrect and that Star Wars: Outlaws still has a vague "2024" release date.

Star Wars Outlaws is launching in late 2024, narrowing its release date down to the final few months of the year. That's according to a blog post from Disney Parks, which has since been edited to instead list the game's vague, already-announced 2024 release window.

As reported by Game Informer, the blog post originally put Outlaws down for late 2024, not just the year-long launch window we've had since the game's announcement. The post originally read, "Star Wars Outlaws, the open-world Star Wars game is set to release late this year". This has since been amended to read "set to release in 2024" instead, perhaps because this date has not been officially confirmed.

There is, of course, a chance that the post got it wrong, and Outlaws isn't intended to be a late 2024 launch at all. However, since Disney Parks is an official source, it could be that this is indeed the window that publisher Ubisoft is targeting, and the post was amended so the date can be unveiled with more fanfare.

Right now, none of the store pages for Outlaws have a release date attached or even the vague promise of it being with us at some point this year.

Massive Entertainment is the same developer behind Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, so it's certainly been a busy few years for the Swedish studio.

Star Wars Outlaws was unveiled last summer, although we've known that Ubisoft and developer Massive Entertainment had been working on a Star Wars game since 2021. By the time it was shown off, there was both cinematic and gameplay footage to share. We were also told that, as of last summer, it had been in the works for four years already, so getting it at some point this year is a realistic prospect.

Neither Disney nor Ubisoft has touched on this possibly leaked release window. We did just get some more details on the game via an interview with Kotaku though, giving us info on our character, Kay, and the setting - with the story taking place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Still, this interview didn't narrow down the release date any further, so Massive and Ubisoft might not be quite ready to commit to a particular date just yet.

In any case, Star Wars Outlaws is expected sometime this year and will be available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
