Summary

  • Star Wars Outlaws's latest trailer gives us an extended look at the gameplay.
  • There's a particular focus on open-world exploration and how that's impacted by the reputation system.
  • Space travel looks pretty seamless, with hidden loading screens.

Star Wars Outlaws just got another gameplay preview at Ubisoft Forward. This time, we got a better look at the game's open-world exploration, showing the different areas we'll come across in Ubisoft's take on the Star Wars universe.

We also get a look at the reputation system, and how that impacts how we travel around the galaxy. Story decisions will change our standing with different factions, although it remains to be seen how much we can influence the overarching narrative.

Star Wars Outlaws Gets Another Trailer At Ubisoft Forward

The gameplay trailer opens with Kay Vess playing on an arcade machine, before making her way to her ship. From here, the transition to space travel appears to be pretty smooth, as we're in a spacecraft shootout before we know it. Then, Kay heads to Tatooine, with the dust storm seemingly hiding any loading screens.

When we get to Tatooine, there's also a preview of how the previously confirmed notoriety system will work. Here, we're told that Kay will have to be cautious, as she has a low reputation with the Hutt cartel.

To improve your standing with a faction outside of story decisions, we're told you can pariticpate in optional fights while you travel between planets. That should give you a way to repair your reputation with a faciton if you accidentlly let it fall too low.

Previous trailers had focussed on the more densely populated areas of the game, which makes sense since we are playing as a scoundrel. However, as we can see here, Star Wars Outlaws isn't straying from the Ubisoft formula so much that it won't have a huge open world to run around in.

There are also different ways to get around, as we see Kay travelling by both foot and speeder. We're told the speeder can be customised, and we also see that it's usable across bodies of water.

Today's trailer follows on from a quick preview at Summer Game Fest last week. Ubisoft has previewed Star Wars Outlaws quite a lot since its unveiling, so we cna expect more previews ahead of release.

Star Wars Outlaws is set to launch on August 30, 2024. It will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
