Summary

  • Voice actor Bob Bergen has played Luke Skywalker nearly 20 times, more than any other actor in the franchise.
  • Gwendoline Christie voices Captain Phasma in Star Wars games, even with her busy schedule as a popular star.
  • Temuera Morrison has played unique roles of Jango Fett, Boba Fett, and Clones in various Star Wars projects.

Who do you think has played Luke Skywalker the most amount of times? It's not Mark Hamill, and it's not even that cool dude who played his stand-in on The Mandalorian. It is, in fact, voice actor Bob Bergen, who took on the role nearly 20 times over the years.

10 Darkest Moments In Star Wars Games

There are some pretty terrifying moments in the Star Wars games where you can act as a Sith, even without being one. Here are some of them.

Posts

That's how it usually works, anyway. The original Star Wars actors rarely, if ever, continue playing their characters in smaller productions like animated shows and video games. They've got stuff to do, like how Harrison Ford stays busy vocally hating Star Wars with every fiber of his being. But sometimes, a special occasion or special paycheck brings them back. Even better when it's interactive.

11 Gwendoline Christie

Captain Phasma

Close

Considering how recent an addition Captain Phasma is to the Star Wars universe, you might think her original actress Gwendoline Christie would be in a better position to appear as the character more often. But come now, this is Brienne of Tarth we're talking about here.

She's got a lot going on as a popular star even before her Star Wars debut in Episode 7: The Force Awakens, but two games in particular have coaxed her into the recording booth as of late. She voices Phasma in 2017's Star Wars Battlefront 2 and 2016's Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

10 John Boyega

Finn

Close

Despite John Boyega's justifiable criticisms of how Star Wars treated him and his character Finn, he still seems to be willing to come back now and then. While his most recent appearance is still in Star Wars: Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker, he managed to be a bit prolific before that.

You can hear Boyega as Finn in Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but he also showed up in Disney Infinity 3.0 for its The Force Awakens DLC, re-enacting events from the film. Now to see if he'll return for the New Jedi Order movie with Daisy Ridley. Maybe as long as he gets to say more than "Rey!"

9 Temuera Morrison

Jango Fett, Boba Fett, Clones

Close

Temuera Morrison probably has the most unique Star Wars roles to his name this side of Dee Bradley Baker. But while both have played an army of unnamed clone troopers, Morrison got there first, and his performance as Jango Fett solidified a huge part of the series going forward.

Since starting as Jango and the Clones in Episode 2: Attack of the Clones, Morrison has since returned often to play them as well as Jango and Boba Fett in various projects. Video game-wise, this includes Star Wars: Battlefront 2 classic and recently a Boba Fett cameo in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.

8 Matthew Wood

General Grievous

Close

It's admittedly a bit easier to reprise a role when the original was already voice-based. That's how Sound Designer Matthew Wood helped create the menacingly asthmatic General Grievous for Star Wars: Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.

Of course, he wasn't the first, as voice actor John DiMaggio played the character in 2003's 2D animated Star Wars: Clone Wars series. But Wood became the iconic voice, reprising his role in many games including most of the Battlefront and Lego Star Wars series.

7 Brian Blessed

Boss Nass

Close

Just look at that satisfyingly alliterative name. Hollywood legend Brian Blessed was already a big name before voicing gungan leader Boss Nass in Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. But let's be real, how many of those roles involved shaking his jowls all official-like?

Naturally, such a big name has also been understandably picky with his roles since then. But he finally returned as Boss Nass over 30 years later in 2022's Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, a slobbery reprisal that was worth the wait.

6 Anthony Daniels

C-3PO

Close

As the first voice you hear in the very first movie, it's oddly comforting that Anthony Daniels has continued to play C-3PO, Star Wars' arguably most iconic droid throughout the series. To this day, he gives fellow perpetually nervous people hope that they too can be accidental heroes.

Outside of the movies and shows, Daniels occasionally reprises his role in various games, including Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge. But you might have missed his oddly perfect Easter egg in 2015's Star Wars Battlefront, which plays if you stay idle on the game menu.

5 Greg Proops And Scott Capurro

Fode And Beed

Close

Comedians Greg Proops and Scott Capurro made their Star Wars debut as the voices of two-headed pod race announcers Fode and Beed in The Phantom Menace. Which one did each play? For some reason it's different every time, so that's a built-in confusion buffer right there.

Both actors returned to play the character in Star Wars Episode 1: Racer on the Nintendo 64 as well as the recent Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, along with seemingly every other original Star Wars actor who could still find a microphone.

4 Daisy Ridley

Rey Skywalker

Close

At this point, you know who she is. Daisy Ridley has inspired countless young Star Wars fans, little girls and people of all genders, with her endearing performance as Rey Skywalker in the sequel trilogy. It's no surprise that she would eventually be offered her own movies going forward.

But even before her New Jedi Order movie was announced, Ridley had already returned as Rey in a number of video games. This included Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2017 of course) and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, as well as Disney Infinity.

3 Ahmed Best

Jar Jar Binks

Close

There's no getting around this, and that's good because it should never be forgotten. Ahmed Best was relentlessly bullied for decades after he played Jar Jar Binks in The Phantom Menace, to the point where his depression got severely intense. Thankfully, he persisted, and Star Wars is better for it.

Even before he made his triumphant return as Jedi Master Kelleran Beq in The Mandalorian, Best had regularly continued voicing Jar Jar in a variety of projects. For games, this ranged from the Episode 1 game on PlayStation 1 to underrated licensed gems Super Bombad Racing and Disney Infinity.

2 Billy Dee Williams

Lando Calrissian

Close

Effortlessly cool dude Billy Dee Williams made Star Wars even more special when he debuted as Lando Calrissian in The Empire Strikes Back. Luckily, he loves the series as much as it loves him, and he's come back for more than just that satisfying appearance in The Rise of Skywalker.

Naturally, you can hear him alongside everyone else in Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. But he also leads one of the most fun parts of 2017's Star Wars Battlefront 2 and showed up with his frankly underrated ship way back in Star Wars: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast.
