PostsThe Acolyte has extremely mixed reviews and has left some scratching their heads while others appreciated the new direction the show took. Regardless, there are a few questions that are unanswered, and now after the show has been canceled, they will most likely remain that way. Here are some lingering questions we have after watching Star Wars: The Acolyte.
There are spoilers ahead about The Acolyte.
10 Is The Acolyte Really A Murder Mystery?
CloseLeslye Headland advertised the Acolyte as a murder mystery or a mystery-thriller. Any mystery or lingering questions were quickly answered within an episode or two. Like Mae being revealed to be Osha's long-lost 'twin' and the one behind the Jedi murder.
The mystery of The Stranger was also quickly put to rest as well. Any ongoing investigation was brief and often turned into a cat-and-mouse game. While The Acolyte could pass as a thriller, it doesn't quite fit the bill of a mystery.
9 How Did Mae And Qimir Meet?
CloseThe audience saw quite a good amount of Osha and Mae when they were younger, about two episodes worth of retelling the story of how their home on Brendock was burned down. But it would have been fascinating to know more about what happened after the fire.
Specifically, how did Qimir and Mae meet? Had Qimir come to Mae while he was dressed in his armor or was he the sort of aloof companion he was at the start of the show? It would be interesting to know more about their dynamic while Mae was starting her training.
8 Why Did Mae Resist Jecki's Arrest?
CloseWhen Mae realizes Osha is alive after their encounter on Olega, Mae decides she would rather reunite with her sister than continue her mission of assassinating the Jedi. She made the trek to Master Kelnacca's shack to turn herself in.

PostsBut when Mae encounters Master Sol and his group, she resists being arrested. The group of Jedi had given her a chance to go peacefully with them, but instead, she refused and started yet another fight. Her intentions become confusing, as Mae seems so hopeful to finally be with Osha again, but then continues her vendetta against the Jedi.
7 What Kind Of Witches Was The Coven?
CloseWitches in Star Wars are Force users who aren't quite powerful enough to be Jedi, so they rely on magick for their power. But, Mother Aniseya and Mother Koril both seemed powerful enough on their own to use the Force, or the Thread, as they called it.
Which leaves the question, what witches are they? One of the Jedi suggested they were Nightsisters, but it wasn't confirmed. It was also briefly mentioned the coven was exiled from their home, but nothing was ever specified. They seem unique from the Nightsisters in the Clone Wars.
6 Did Everyone From The Coven Die?
CloseWhile it was unclear whether or not the witches were dead, all that was really given away was their bodies laying together, but there wasn't any sign of a struggle and the fire had not yet spread. It's been suggested that when Master Indara severed the connect between the witches and Kelnacca it killed all the witches, but that wasn't clear.
Mother Koril was nowhere to be seen either at the time of the witches death. It wouldn't be surprising if Koril somehow made it out and has tried to follow either Osha or Mae as they grow.
5 Why Did Osha Kill Sol But Not Qimir?
CloseOsha had a number of opportunities and motives to eliminate Qimir. Qimir had taken advantage of Mae's most likely troubled mind to train her, he killed Jecki, and he killed Yord, who was indicated to once be a good friend of hers while they were growing up.

PostsMaster Sol, while he did kill her mother, not only raised her and trained her but truly seemed to care about her. While that does excuse his mistakes, it feels very uncharacteristic for her to be so forgiving toward Qimir and Mae, but immediately turn on Sol.
4 Who Was Qimir To Master Vernestra?
CloseIn the final episode, Master Vernestra finally makes it to Brendock in an attempt to help Master Sol. There, she immediately feels and recognizes Qimir's presence, but simply refers to him as "you" and gives no further insight.
Qimir quickly flees as well when he feels Vernestra's presence. All we know about Qimir's association with the Jedi is that he was most likely trained by one and then left. It left us all wondering who was Vernestra to Qimir, and why Qimir changed his tune to fighting the Jedi to flee so quickly.
3 Why Did Master Vernestra Lie About Master Sol?
CloseMaster Vernestra had originally hid the Jedi murders from the Senate until word spread around and she was forced to address the situation at hand. Vernestra was obviously up to date with the situation, she had agreed to the investigation and Master Sol often checked in.
There are a few times Vernestra has seen memories through force traces, it's most likely she realized it was Qimir.
So it was confusing as to why Vernestra lied about Master Sol being the one to turn against the Jedi and start a murder spree. Either way, it seems as if Vernestra didn't want the Senate to be meddling in Jedi affairs, it would've made more sense to talk about Qimir.
2 Why Was The Only Option To Wipe Mae's Memory?
CloseAt the very end, when Osha finally agrees to train with Qimir, even though early she insisted that she would never consider his offer, they are left with the question of what to do with Mae. So of course, obviously the only option was to erase any trace of Osha from Mae's memory.
There were quite a few options. They could have taken Mae with them, as it seemed like the planet Qimir had taken Osha to previously was pretty remote and secure. Or perhaps help her change her identity as Mae remained under the radar up until the murders.
1 What Was The Point of Darth Plagueis' Five-Second Cameo?
At first, this question was going to be, "What was the thing watching Osha and Qimir", but apparently, the creature was Darth Plagueis. Which brings up the question: why? And why did they wait until the last minute to give him a cameo?
Perhaps if they incorporated Darth Plagueis earlier and associated him with Qimir early it would be more effective, but involving Darth Plagueis in The Acolyte feels rather unnecessary and leaves yet another weird hole in this story. But hey, at least we got to see Yoda.
