Risk Of Rain 2: Seekers Of The Storm - How To Unlock Chef

Risk of Rain 2's second expansion Seekers of the Storm introduces three new characters to its roster to play with along with new items, enemies, skins, and levels. Of the new playable characters, only the Seeker is unlocked by default. For the rest, you will have to perform some tasks during a run to unlock, including Chef.

PostsLuckily, Chef is very easy to unlock, and can be done in under five minutes. Chef does require you to have some specific items before you can unlock them, but with some help from artifacts, this becomes one of the easiest characters to unlock.
How To Unlock
It is highly advised to use the Artifact of Command, as you need three specific items in order to unlock Chef. It is also best to play on easy so you won't have to worry about enemies killing you during the process.
To unlock Chef, you will need to find a Halcyon Shrine. These will always spawn on the first level of every cycle (including when you first load into a run). They appear as a series of emerald pillars sticking out from the ground, with smaller patches surrounding them.
Along the way, you will need to find a Bison Steak, Cautious Slug, and Infusion. The Bison Steak and Cautious Slug are common (white) items, and the Infusion is uncommon (green); since these are the most common rarities, you are likely to find them at the start of the run. This is why you want to play with the Artifact of Command, as you can add those items directly into your inventory rather than rely on complete chance.
Once you have all the items you need, find the Halcyon Shrine and pray to it. It will start draining you of gold and spawn enemies. The gold fills up the Shrine, and once it's about halfway full, you will have the option topray to it again.
Upon praying the second time, a mini-boss enemy will appear; they do not have a lot of health but can do a lot of damage, especially if there are more enemies around them. The mini-boss moves quickly and hits hard, so make sure to be cautious when close to it.
Once you defeat the mini-boss, a green portal will open and a random item will drop. This portal will take you to the Reformed Altar, which is a unique environment that functions as any other one would (with a teleporter, chests, etc.). Going through the portal will have the same effect as leaving through a teleporter, so make sure you're ready to leave before you enter it.
Chef will be located in a small enclave found at the bottom level of the Reformed Altar. If you can find the large stairs leading up to the altar, the enclave is found directly to the left of it.
If you want to be extra safe, clear out the enemies around it so they don't interrupt you and potentially kill you before Chef finishes unlocking. The Elder Lemurian frequently spawns at the Reformed Altar, which can be especially damaging when you are still weak.
Once you enter the enclave, run to the end of it where the Chef will be waiting behind a counter with a stone tablet in front of a wok. Here, interact with the stone tablet to add the three ingredients (Bison Steak, Cautious Slug, and Infusion) to the wok and Chef will get to cooking. You will lose the three items in the process, but you will be rewarded with Chef, who becomes a playable character.
