Set equally among the dense streets of Shibuya and the green-and-red otherworldly forests of Another, Reynatis' most defining feature is its combat system. It's an enticing enough system, though it really starts to shine once you equip Wizart skills and abilities to each of your characters.

While each playable character only starts with one Ability slot, you may note that they have multiple locked slots as well. These Ability Wizart really open up the game so you'll want to expand those slots as soon as you can. How do you do that though? Read on to find out.

When Can You Expand Your Ability Slots?

Despite you being able to gather countless Wizart across the game, you can't start to expand your Ability slots until you've reached Chapter 14. At this point, Michiro will introduce you to a magical shop he knows of, and invites you to Dogenzaka Alley to see it.

This shop is accessed through a Fog Gate near the top of Dogenzaka, with the Babushka Woods shop being the only thing inside. Unlike most other shops in the game, Babushka Woods sells more than just healing items, but also various stat-boosting items.

It also lets you sell your items if you feel like you have an overabundance of them, or need some more money to gorge yourself on the endless supply of food in Shibuya.

How Do You Expand Your Ability Slots?

Now that you've gained access to Babushka Woods, you can start to expand the Ability slots for the characters in your party. Each character is upgraded separately and each uses different materials to unlock their Ability Slots too.

These materials, you should already have plenty of. They're dropped by every enemy in the game, and you can check which item is dropped by who in the Enemy Guide section of the in-game Guide. But you can't upgrade them directly from your inventory.

Instead, you have to sell these materials to Babushka Woods, and then they will keep them in storage for you to unlock more Ability slots. This is done through the Liberate Slots option. You get money for selling these materials too, so it's a win-win scenario.

Materials serve no other purpose in the game other than Liberating Ability slots, so feel free to sell them all to Babushka Woods as soon as you can.

With the appropriate materials sold to Babushka Woods, it's as simple as going to the Liberate Slots menu and unlocking the slot. This costs a small amount of money, though it is a negligible amount in comparison to the money you'll have gotten from selling the materials in the first place.

Each character, for the third and fourth Ability slot onwards, requires a unique material that is only dropped by story bosses. These can't be missed, so don't worry about them. For the final slot, they each require a unique ring. This are not gained as part of the story, so we've detailed their locations below:

  • Ring of Pride and Wrath - Optional area within the the Garden's Deep Forest, found in Miyashita Park Rooftop.
  • Ring of Lust and Greed - Optional area within the Dazzling Forest of Challenge, found in Scramble Crossing.
  • Ring of Laziness and Gluttony - Optional area within the Clear Forest Of Challenge, found at the MEA HQ Entrance.

These optional Fog Gates can be accessed whenever once they've been unlocked., even after finishing the game, so you have no rush in getting them completed.

Is There Any Other Purpose To The Crafting System?

Seeing as selling your materials gives you money and lets you unlock more Ability Slots, you might be wondering what purpose there would be for engaging in the system when you have all your slots upgraded and you're overflowing with money.

While you may unlock it naturally as you sell materials, certain ones unlock new stock at Babushka Woods. Because of this, you should be selling every material you get your hands on, rather than just the ones necessary for Liberating new slots. There's even an associated for achievement for unlocking and purchasing all the shop's inventory, so you really should take advantage of their offerings.
