Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most highly rated, critically acclaimed games of all time, and its reputation has helped Rockstar sell bucketloads of the title. In fact, the game has topped 50 million copies sold and even managed to shift four million copies in the last quarter alone, a frankly astonishing feat considering its age. But while the game is over four years old, players are still searching out its nooks and testing its limits.

Over on the popular Red Dead Redemption subreddit, a player shared something seemingly innocuous that they did in the sequel that has piqued many users interest and curiosity. "Sometimes you can find a guy drinking at his camp near the gang's camp", user Rumplestilskin wrote, referring to a nearby NPC camp when the gang is camped out at Horseshoe Overlook.

"If you give him whiskey he'll pass out," it continues. "I brought him back to our camp and he's been snoring (so not dead) for 2 days. Does he ever wake up?" This captions a screenshot from the player's game showing said NPC sprawled on the floor under a gang member's tent. While this may seem somewhat unremarkable, other players have been wondering just how the player managed to smuggle an NPC into camp.

A comment on the above thread that gained 1,000 upvotes said: "I didn't know you could bring people to camp". Another said that they tried to bring a hogtied O'Driscoll gang member to camp, but that they kept getting pushed away by an invisible barrier preventing them from doing so. Arthur Morgan's fellow gang members will react to you if you bring an NPC near a lookout too, saying something like: "What the hell are you thinking Arthur, bringing a stranger into camp?"

Others have shared similar experiences, many humorous, such as bringing hunted deer into bars, and it demonstrates the generosity of Rockstar games, which include much freedom and intelligence, with NPCs reacting to events (or sometimes amusingly not reacting), that players like to play the studio's games just to test what happens. One example: "Sometimes I hogtied an O'Driscoll and take it to camp then cut him free. The gang members will shoot him and if he has a gun he will shoot back," writes one commentor.

Another user marveled: "Seems like you've done something (bring an event NPC to camp) that nobody's ever done before". The comment got a fair number of upvotes, seeming to confirm its assertion. So why don't you, a Red Dead Redemption 2 player, since there's so many millions, give it a go next time you load up Arthur Morgan, and see if you can bring an NPC back to camp?
