If you think Red Dead Redemption 2 is going anywhere, think again. Rockstar's cowboy sim might be approaching half a decade old, but there's life yet in the old title, as it continues to land on bestseller lists even today. Overall, Arthur Morgan's adventure has sold more than 50 million copies while newcomers and veterans alike find novel ways to have their fun in Rockstar's well-crafted open world.

As a sandbox game, Red Dead Redemption 2 allows players to get up to all sorts of mischief especially as your character is equipped with a lasso while the physics and systems governing the behaviour of objects and NPCs allows for unique reactions. All of which makes the sadistic acts players engage in all the more satisfying. In a Reddit thread, RDR2 players have been sharing some of their most heinous acts.

While such crimes may be objectionable, game devs also know about these kinds of player behaviours. In fact, there's apparently even a term for it. BioWare's co-founder revealed that his studio referred to it as "dickbag gameplay", in reference to those kinds of gameplay moments where players can act out satisfying or funny things that could also be considered cruel. In another game, it could be something like kicking an NPC off a high tower in Assassin's Creed Odyssey. While in Red Dead Redemption it can be tying up an NPC and leaving them on the railroad tracks.

What's the most sadistic thing you've done in this game?

On the above thread, the OP illustrates what they mean with a clip of them making sure a carriage full of NPCs in a locked cage falls into the water. Seeing them struggle trying to escape before the carriage slips below the surface is some sight.

Interestingly, players tend to feel bad about shooting the horses more than the human NPCs, otherwise how else to explain that a commentor revealing that they shot horses on low honour runs received so many upvotes. "When I'm doing a low honor run, I'll always shoot the horse first if I'm in combat," they wrote. "Pinkertons, gangs, anyone. I shoot the horse in the head then kill the dude if he's still alive."

Another told of their sadistic escapade of stealing into a random guy's house, tying them up to take them outside into the woods before letting them go. While the NPC ran for their life, after being shaken free of their gun and knife, the player shot him in the back of the knees with a .22 varmint rifle so that they could hardly run as the player released him to the legendary grizzly. Truly, a sadist among us.

But with dynamite and campfires to play with, it's not the only crime detailed in that there Reddit thread. Read on for more tales of the grim and grisly.
