Not only are those times thankfully no more but occasionally, you can pick up a PS5 for even less than they retail for. That's currently the case at PlayStation Direct and Best Buy, and just to sweeten the deal even further, it's the slimmer model of PS5 bundled with games that aren't even six months old yet that are on sale.

The best savings available are on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 bundle at Best Buy, $60 knocked off its usual price, bringing it down to $439.99. However, the bundle appears to be out of stock, for the time being. There's a silver lining if that's the bundle you've got your heart set on, though. It's also on sale at PlayStation Direct, the deal just isn't quite as appealing as the Best Buy one. Reduced to $449.99, you can either pay the additional $10 and still get the bundle for less now, or cross your fingers for a timely Best Buy restock and save even more.

If Modern Warfare 3 isn't one of the games you want to play on your shiny new PS5, there is another option you can get for less. The very same slimmer model but bundled with Marvel's Spider-Man 2 instead has also been subjected to a price cut. Available for $449.99 at Best Buy and PS Direct, and this bundle is in stock, at least at the time of this article's publication. Both bundles include the slimmer PS5, the advertised game, and one DualSense controller.

All three of the bundles include the version of the slimmer PS5 that includes a disc drive. Since the newer PS5 model when bought alone isn't on sale, that means it's currently cheaper to buy one with a copy of Spider-Man 2 or Modern Warfare 3 than it is to buy one all by itself. Even if you have no desire to play either of those games, choose a bundle over buying the console alone and save $50. Plus, you'll have a PS5 game you didn't want to either take for a whirl or gift to a friend.
