Princess Peach: Showtime! might be on the easy side of the Super Mario difficulty spectrum, but that doesn’t make the Darkle bosses any less memorable. That’s because each boss in Princess Peach: Showtime! has a unique design and attack pattern that offers a fun challenge to overcome.

While the bosses of Princess Peach: Showtime offer quite the spectacle, some are better than others. Now that the game is available and everyone has had time to go through the short adventure, let’s rank every boss according to how satisfying it is to take them down.

5 Spotlion

Beastly Master Of Light

Close

Visually, Spotlion is one of the best bosses in Princess Peach: Showtime. Inspired by a lion made of spotlights, the appropriately named boss awaits Peach on the fourth floor of the theater as the final member of the Sour Bunch before Madame Grape herself. Unfortunately, Spotlion is not that fun to fight.

Spotlion controls its arena by turning the floor, ceiling, and walls into mirrored surfaces. These mirror surfaces reflect the dark globes of light the boss shoots at Peach. The goal is to hit these globes of lights so that they hit Spotlion instead. However, since Peach can only attack in four directions, it’s not so easy to perfectly reflect Spotlion’s projectiles in a way they hit the boss. Because of that, the battle against Spotlight overstays its welcome, forcing you to dodge all of their attacks before trying to hit them again.

4 Disco Wings

Winged Gravitational Bender

Close

Disco Wings is the first boss you’ll face in Princess Peach: Showtime, guarding the path to the theater’s second floor. The boss looks like an owl whose body is a mirror disco globe, shining colorful lights in every direction.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with Disco Wings' attack patterns. First, they will drop egg-like projectiles that are easy to avoid and which you can throw back at Disco Wings, damaging them. Then, the boss will fly across the screen, forcing you to jump over it. Disco Wings also conjures platforms that can crush Peach or make dodging their flying attack easier.

Finally, to spice things up, Disco Wings also revert gravity, forcing you to dodge its attacks on the ceiling. There are better Darkle creatures in Princess Peach: Showtime, but Disco Wing is the perfect introduction to the game’s boss battles.

3 Madame Grape

Leader Of The Sour Bunch

Close

The woman behind the attack on the theater is Madame Grape, the personification of tragedy. Madame Grape lurks around for the entire Princess Peach: Showtime! gameplay until she rises as a mighty boss at the end of your journey.

The battle against Madame Grape is spectacular in every sense of the word. Powered by the Radiant Ensemble, Peach gains the power of flight and shoots Sparkle projectiles at the villain. Meanwhile, Madame Grape hides behind Sour Bunch's enemies and tries to hit Peach with fire bursts and moving trains.

Once Madame Grape is defeated, she returns for a second phase, during which she turns into a gargantuan creature. The only thing that prevents Madame Grape from being more memorable is that the boss battle is too easy, echoing one of the biggest problems with the game.

2 Purrjector Cat

Conjuror Of Illusions

Close

Purrjector Cat is the third boss you’ll face in Princess Peach: Showtime. You fight this giant cat on a stage that mimics a living room, where a mouse turns into a bomb when you hit it. The goal is to protect the bomb from Purrjector Cat’s attacks and position it in the center of the screen so the boss will blow his face when making his most devastating attack.

Purrjector Cat's unique design makes them stand out from the rest of the Sour Bunch. In addition, this is the only Princess Peach: Showtime boss that might present you with an actual challenge. To protect the bomb, you often put yourself in danger, which means you actually have to learn Purrjector Cat’s attack pattern and react to it instead of mindlessly navigating the boss fight.

1 Light Fang

Time-Bending Watcher

Close

Instead of a direct fight, Light Fang’s boss battle structures itself as a stealth challenge. You aim to hide from the boss using the rubble on the level until you can reach an electric device that causes Light Fang to short-circuit.

By now, everyone is aware that Princess Peach: Showtime is accessible to a fault, failing to offer challenges that would keep you engaged for longer. That’s no different with Light Fang, a boss that will not likely defeat you. However, Light Fang was designed with Prince Peach: Showtime’s difficulty philosophy in mind. That’s why, instead of draining your health, Light Fang rewinds time and drags you to the beginning of each stealth section if caught.

That’s the perfect punishment for failure in a game actively trying to be easy. Light Fang also adds a fun twist to the stealth boss formula, making it all the more memorable.
