Good stories often leave us with more questions than answers. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is no exception to the rule. One of the earliest surprises of the year, and a fantastic, yet bold, revival of a beloved series, the Metroidvania delivers quite a good story.

If you want to know which of Sargon's magic abilities are most powerful in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, look no further than this list.

The characters feel real, mystery is everywhere, and the couple dozen hours that a first playthrough takes will be filled with surprises. Plot twists, betrayals and redemption arcs, which culminate in a satisfying ending, albeit one that leaves a lot unanswered.

8 What Was Anahita's Plan?

And Did She Succeed?

Anahita is a character who ends up feeling under-utilized when Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown concludes. She is the first piece of the domino that gets the game's main plot going and is a crucial figure in Sargon's backstory. We know that she wasn't actually evil, and didn't mean Prince Ghassan any harm, but there is a lot more that we don't know.

When confronted by Sargon regarding Ghassan's kidnapping, she claims that she was simply following Queen Thomyris' orders, and was "loyal to a fault", implying that she knew that the Queen had some nefarious purpose in mind. In addition to this, Anahita mentions that she has a plan that she must see to its end, seemingly one that is independent of Thomyris' orders.

The problem is, when Sargon travels back in time to save Prince Ghassan, Anahita sacrifices herself to protect her protégé, and simply dies. She never shows up again, nothing seems to come from her supposed plan, and we roll the credits, never getting an answer to this question.

7 How Did Radjen Die?

Is It Just Cut Content?

This question could've also been "How does Sargon know that Radjen is dead?", but we considered the first option the most pertinent one. Radjen is a unique character from the get-go. She is the only member of the Immortals that seems to dislike Sargon, but she goes way beyond that and seems intent on just killing him whenever she gets the chance. Her dialogue is filled with threats in one of the game's first cutscenes, threats she reiterates when we meet her in the Depths, and then she vanishes.

While playing the game, we were already asking ourselves, "Is Radjen going to show up at some point? Might she be one of the last bosses?" If you've played the game, you know that, not only does the assassin never appear again, but she is only mentioned by Sargon in the final cutscene of the game as being one of the people who died on Mount Qaf. Between the game's first cutscenes and that last one, there will be around 20 hours of playtime, and you won't hear her mentioned once.

6 What Was Queen Thomyris' Objective?

The Traitor Was Planning Something

Queen Thomyris is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown's closest thing to a truly evil character. She usurped the throne through an assassination. The Kingdom of Persia is said to be in a rough state of affairs. She supposedly swapped her last child for someone else's, and we know she staged Prince Ghassan's kidnapping by using Anahita. The thing is, what was her final objective?

It seems that no one really knew how the curse of Mount Qaf worked, but it was safe to assume that it wasn't exactly a safe place since the Simurgh had disappeared. Did she mean to get Prince Ghassan killed? If so, what for? Was she trying to trap everyone inside Mount Qaf? Given the assassination that she carried out against King Darius, it seems that Thomyris was a cunning person, but The Lost Crown just doesn't give us enough information to piece together what her plan might've been.

5 Who Was King Darius?

And What Made Him Special?

Who exactly was Darius, Persia's previous King, and Vahram's father? The lore items in the game and some dialogues seem to describe him as a great ruler to a blossoming kingdom. We know little more than that, and that he was assassinated by Thomyris, who stole his throne. He used the Simurgh to save Vahram, which implies that he knew a lot more about it than someone like Queen Thomyris, who seemed to discard that possibility.

What makes him an even more intriguing character is his bossfight and Kaheva's dialogue. Why is he a giant when you fight him? Vahram is tall, but not gigantic. No other human in The Lost Crown comes even close to reaching his size. Was this simply done for gameplay purposes, or is there more to this story? Furthermore, why was he considered worthy of Kaheva's craft, when she mentions that very few mortals were deemed deserving of it? Who was this mysterious ruler?

4 What Happened To Artaban And Neith?

A Disappearing Act

Artaban and Neith are special for two things: they sided with Sargon for the entire time, and they're the only two other Immortals who survived Mount Qaf. Yet, we know nothing about them through the game's conclusion. We can safely say that they are indeed alive, because Sargon doesn't include them in the list of people who died. You see them before the end of the game when they come to show their support.

What happened to them, though? They aren't mentioned or shown from that point onwards, which is, frankly, quite weird. Artaban serves a crucial role in both gameplay and lore, teaching Sargon his combat techniques while functioning as a tutorial/practice arena. Neith is the Immortal who seems to trust Sargon the most, never questioning his judgement or his intentions. Are they still with Sargon as what remains of the Immortals, or did they go their own way?

3 Who Or What Is Alkara?

Bird, Man, God?

The mysterious Old Man is one of the most bizarre details in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. Much like lots of other parts of the game, he could've just been a green arrow pointing your way to the next objective, but he instead is an extremely intriguing character who is also completely nonsensical.

He looks older than time and knows way too much. He always knows where to be, and where Sargon needs to go next. He seems completely confident in Sargon's journey, despite it taking some pretty wild turns, including traveling through time. If that wasn't enough to rustle your feathers, he shows up in the final moments of the game as a bird! Is he a god? A part of the Simurgh itself? Or something else entirely? Who knows?

2 Who Is Fariba?

The All-Knowing Child

If someone knows what Alkara is, it's Fariba. Hell, they might even be the same person/being. Fariba is a young girl who, much like Alkara, knows more than seemingly anyone else in the game. She looks like a child, despite time passing much quicker inside Mount Qaf's curse. Although she admits to being a child, she knows a lot about the curse and, just like the Old Man, seems completely confident in Sargon's journey.

Not only does she have a map for every single zone in the game, she hints that she knows that Sargon is actually a prince (a reveal that doesn't happen until a lot later, and one that only shows up if you 100 percent the game) and she is humming the main theme song from Prince of Persia 2008! Is she just a quirky NPC that sells you maps, or another otherworldly, all-knowing deity?

1 Did Anyone Actually Die?

Time-Travel Shenanigans

We know time-travel is a thing inside Mount Qaf. You see Prince Ghassan die, yet he is alive and well in the final cutscene of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown. So the question remains: did anyone actually die inside Mount Qaf, or, even better, are they gone for good? In addition to Prince Ghassan's case, there are a few intriguing parts to this.

You meet multiple versions of yourself throughout the game, the Alternate Sargons. Can there be alternate versions of all the other characters? Are those still alive, somewhere in Mount Qaf? Additionally, why did Orod and Menolias dissipate into golden flowers instead of dying 'normally' like Anahita and 'the first' Ghassan? And last, but definitely not least, Ubisoft Montpellier pulled the oldest trick in the book by killing the game's main antagonist off-screen. Can Vahram, Orod, Menolias, Radjen and Anahita still be alive? We don't have the answers, but Alkara and Fariba probably do.
