The transition to Theia Sky Ruins has truly changed Pokemon Unite, particularly the top path, as it has become arguably the most important lane. The inclusion of Regieleki has made it the most important path and vital for a team's success. The early game has become increasingly important, and teams can really be truly rewarded for taking down the first goal before the objective spawns.

While the top path is certainly not for everyone - there are several Pokemon that lend themselves to truly tend to shine there. These Pokemon typically start off strong, hold their own in a team fight, and can control large areas.
10 Snorlax: The Impenetrable Early-Game Wall
Snorlax has always been one of the best Defenders in the game, and for good reason. Its early game strength, combined with its recovery and survivability, make it one of the best walls in Unite.
Its viability in the top lane comes from its ability to tank damage, move opponents, and pressure goals while its lane partner scores. Block is also perfect for keeping opponents away from Regieleki and escorting it into goals. If you’re headed to the top path, you definitely don't want to sleep on Snorlax.
9 Machamp: The Critical Counter-Attacker
Machamp works best as an ambusher, which can be highly beneficial for the top lane. Bulk Up is incredibly effective at sneaking in early-game scores, which - when paired with an attack weight - can drastically increase its damage output.
Its HP and Attack stats make it ideal for taking out Regieleki, and the prevalence of hindrances means its Guts ability frequently comes in handy. This four-armed fighter is one of the hardest hitters in the game and thrives when hiding in bushes or pursuing retreating opponents. Certainly, Machamp is an ideal pick for the top path.
8 Buzzwole: The Vampiric Powerhouse
Few things are more terrifying than a monstrous macho mosquito leaping out of nowhere, latching onto you, and slowly draining you of life. You can capitalize on that fear by choosing Buzzwole for the top lane. This burly bloodsucker has incredibly high early-game viability. Equipped with a Score Shield, it can push for goals right out of the gate and then capitalize on them with an Attack Weight.

Buzzwole can also combo Lunge and Leech Life to catch fleeing enemies and hold them until reinforcements arrive. Its ability to dish out major damage and deny enemies the chance to retreat makes it perfect for the top path.
7 Gardevoir: The Space Denier
One of the best ways to succeed in the top lane is to control the area around Regieleki - and no one is better at controlling large areas than Gardevoir. This mighty mage is one of the strongest Special Attackers available and specializes in area-based moves. It can control large areas from a distance and can combine its attacks in ways that deny opponents any chance to advance.
With the right support, Gardevoir can lock down the area surrounding the Regieleki - while simultaneously knocking it out. Its spectrum of area-based attacks also allows it to easily steal objectives, which can really turn the tide in the top lane.
6 Blissey: The Hero That Never Dies
Blissey has always been known for having one of the highest HP stats in Pokemon, and Unite is no exception. This hefty healer is an impossibly bulky support and can be critical assistance for not only its lane partner but for the Jungler too.
This Pokemon's durability allows it to plunge directly into the middle of a fight and absorb damage while healing its teammates. The health boost given by Soft Boiled is one of the best in the game and is vital for securing objectives and early-game goals - both of which are needed in the top path.
5 Mew: Anything And Everything You Need
As the genetic Godfather of all Pokemon, Mew is the most versatile in the game. Solar Beam's range, paired with Light Screen's ability to augment its power and block advancing teammates, makes Mew great for pressuring opponents and stealing early-game resources. As the match progresses, its Ability Reset allows this mythical mouse to change roles entirely.

Combining Surf and Coaching allows Mew to push opponents off teammates while shielding them at the same time. Additionally, the combination of Agility and Electro Ball transforms Mew into an impossibly quick ranged-attacker, ideal for scoring quick goals and finishing off foes. Early-game pressure and late-game support are key components to success in the top lane, and Mew has the range for both.
4 Scizor: Bulky Brawler Meets Agile Assassin
Scizor is one of the most adaptable Attackers for the top lane. The most important decision you have to make is whether to stay as Scyther or evolve to Scizor. Scyther works almost as a Speedster and can quickly advance with deadly force on opponents.
Scizor, on the other hand, is more of a brawler, putting out more damage at a slightly slower pace. The choice for either is made at level five, which can be a vital pivot in the early game. Both options provide an impressively powerful Attacker, but the slight variations allow critical flexibility to determine dominance in the top lane.
3 Mamoswine: The Tusks You Don't Want To Tussle With
Mamoswine is not only able to take massive damage but dishes it out in return. As a Defender, its strength is unmatched in the current Unite meta. Its Passive Ability, Thick Fat, not only increases its defenses but also reduces the goal-scoring speed of the surrounding enemies, which is ideal for preventing opponents from early-game goals. Ice Fang also allows it to move enemies off objectives and goals - creating critical openings for its teammates.

This mighty mammoth's HP stats, combined with the invulnerability granted from its Unite Move, allows it to dive into the middle of team fights and completely disrupt them. Mamoswine is an absolute powerhouse and particularly helpful in the top lane.
2 Tsareena: The Queen of Mean
There are a few Pokemon quite as terrifying as Tsareena. Over many updates, Tsareena has become one the most relentless and intense Attackers in the game. Its Queenly Majesty ability allows it to bypass hindrances and progressively increases its ability to do so over time. Trop Kick and Stomp create an incredibly powerful combo that can chase down enemies and secure objectives.
In a Regieleki fight, it’s always good to have a Tsareena on your side. This Queen thrives anywhere, but these boots were made for stomping all over the top lane.
1 Azumarill: The Immortal KO Machine
When it comes to the top path, there’s no better pick than Azumarill. This marine menace is one of the best for solo fights, pushing objectives, and controlling large areas. Its ability Huge Power makes every one-on-one fight a relentless barrage of critical hits, and it has multiple methods for attacking large areas with force.
Whirlpool and Aqua Tail are incredibly useful for stealing objectives and pushing goal points, and the HP restoration from each hit keeps Azumarill in the fight. Play Rough allows it to execute pivotal single-target KOs, and the movement speed buff helps close the distance between targets. This, combined with its ability to take damage and focus the enemies' attention, allows Azumarill to absolutely thrive in the top lane.
