As one of the most popular Pokemon in the Pokemon TCG, Rayquaza stands tall thanks to its incredible roster of exceptionally expensive cards. As one of the earliest Legendary Pokemon to be featured in shiny form, Rayquaza's mark on the Pokemon TCG is impressive.

Whether you prefer the nostalgic design of old favorites from the EX era, or you enjoy the modern era's vibrant artwork like the valuable cards from Sword and Shield, these Rayquaza cards will blow you away. While there are more sets with multiple Rayquaza to analyze, we're focusing on the best sets with Rayquaza cards.

These sets are judged based on the variety, value, and visual appeal of the chase cards, as well as the affordability of the set. The market prices of TCGplayer are used.

Those criteria break any ties in the case of multiple sets with the same number of chase cards.

5 Sun & Moon: Celestial Storm – Three Rayquaza

The Perfect Storm

Sun & Moon's Celestial Storm might be one of the most forgotten sets of the entire generation, so you'd be excused for forgetting that it had a solid array of valuable Rayquaza cards to enjoy. A Full Art and Secret Rare share the same Rayquaza art, though the latter is far more valuable, with a price tag above $125.

The third and final Rayquaza card in Celestial Storm isn't much to write home about as it's only worth a few dollars, but it's still a nice-looking card for the price. If you're just looking to expand your Rayquaza collection, then Celestial Storm offers a good chance to do so at a relatively decent price, considering the other sets to come.

4 Black & White: Dragons Exalted – Three Rayquaza

A Welcome Surprise

Dragons Exalted is a top-tier mid-vintage set from the Black & White era, with three more beautiful Rayquaza cards to appreciate. Much like Celestial Storm, two of the three Rayquaza chase cards you'll find in this set fetch a lot of money, with the top card pushing $250, followed by the runner-up in the $225 range.

Despite failing to secure a price tag in the double digits, the third entry – a Rayquaza EX Ultra Rare – still uses stunning artwork that you'll be excited to see in your pack. Although this set is becoming harder to find and even more expensive by the day, you have a chance of earning plenty of value in return if you get either Rayquaza card.

3 EX: Deoxys – Three Rayquaza

The Crown Jewel

If you prefer the highest-end Rayquaza cards on the market, then EX Deoxys should feature plenty of reasons to open this set, thanks to its collection of expensive Gold Star cards. This Rayquaza Gold Star is unbelievably difficult to find and doesn't always feature a market price on TCGplayer due to its rarity.

If you manage to pull a Gold Star Rayquaza from a pack of EX Deoxys, you'll be swimming in profit, but considering that this is one of the most expensive vintage sets ever, it won't be easy to get this card and come out ahead. The other two Rayquaza cards are sub-$50, so don't expect to make any money unless you hit the big one.

2 Sword & Shield: Evolving Skies – Six Rayquaza

Rising Above The Competition

Speaking of making money, if you were smart enough to hold onto your Rayquaza cards from Evolving Skies since release, then you're looking at a profit. If not, and you want to hunt down the best Rayquaza chase cards, look no further than Evolving Skies.

Even if you're unlucky and don't manage to pull a Rayquaza card, this valuable set features plenty of expensive consolation prizes, including the coveted Moonbreon. With six unique Rayquaza to search for and two top-tier Alternate Arts that hover above the $200 mark, there are plenty of chances to get one of the best Rayquaza cards in Evolving Skies.

1 XY: Roaring Skies – Seven Rayquaza

You've Got Options

From Evolving Skies to Roaring Skies, Rayquaza makes its home in the atmosphere, far above the rest of the other legendary Dragon-type Pokemon. It might not boast cards that reach the nearly $1,000 value of the Rayquaza VMAX from Evolving Skies, but this collection of seven Rayquaza cards offers every opportunity to expand your collection.

However, it's worth noting that Roaring Skies is one of the most expensive sets you can buy with Rayquaza chase cards in it, right behind EX Deoxys. With a Full Art pushing $200 and two other Rayquaza cards that exceed $50, you'd be ecstatic to pull one of these excellent chase cards.

While buying singles is the more prudent financial decision, this set is packed with Rayquaza cards you'll be thrilled to pull.
