Pokemon Pocket: 8 Best Pokemon Abilities From Space-Time Smackdown

Abilities can make or break a Pokemon card when it comes to the Pokemon TCG Pocket game. Thanks to the release of the Space-Time Smackdown, there are plenty of new Pokemon with fancy new abilities to experiment with.

These Pokemon abilities have the potential to change the tide of battle.
PostsSome of these new powers are support-based, helping keep your cards in tip-top shape or get a little bit of card advantage, while others are more offensive, letting you deal out some extra damage to your opponent’s Pokemon. If you’re looking for the best abilities to help give your deck a boost, we have all the best cards together in one place.
8 Regice
Look At Him Try To Hide
Keeping your Pokemon safe is a huge part of creating a strong attack plan, and part of that is making sure your Pokemon is protected from any status effects. Regice comes in with its Crystal Body ability to give you a bit of a shield from oncoming attacks.
This ability stops all effects of attacks from touching Regice. We’re talking Paralysis, Confusion, and Poison. Regice still takes damage from attacks, as that is not considered an effect. Regice ice can be a bit of a niche pick for a deck, but if the meta swings towards tons of status effects, it can be a strong addition.
7 Dusknoir
The Void Stares Back
A fascinating ability that has yet to be seen in the Pokemon Pocket game, Dusknoir comes with the Shadow Void ability, a neat way to manipulate the damage on your Pokemon around. Shadow Void lets you take damage counters from your other Pokemon and move them to the Psychic-type Dusknoir.

Can the flip of a single coin can truly decide a match? With these powerful moves, almost certainly.
PostsThis ability lets you heal up your other Pokemon to full HP, keeping them healthy for when it's time to go back to the front lines in the Active Spot. This ability is great against opposing Pokemon with attacks and abilities that can damage your Pokemon even when they’re on the Bench.
6 Regirock
Can’t Touch This
If you need a wall, look no further than Regirock. This Fighting-type Pokemon comes in with a solid 120 HP but can hang out a little longer thanks to its Exoskeleton ability. Regirock takes 20 less damage from your opponent’s attacks with this ability.
It’s important to keep in mind that abilities that would damage it aren’t affected by this ability, so just be careful if your opponent is running cards like the new Darkrai ex. Otherwise, Exoskeleton can put a damper on any attack headed your way.
5 Shaymin
Let Your Garden Bloom
CloseHealing in Pokemon TCG Pocket is often an overlooked ability. Grass-type Pokemon seem to have the market cornered, and with the Space-Time Smackdown set, it has another powerful tool to use to keep your Pokemon’s HP full.
Shaymin’s Fragrant Flower Garden ability lets you heal all your Pokemon for ten damage once a turn. While ten damage might not be huge, it does a fantastic job of keeping your team safe from damage from cards like Articuno ex and Greninja. It doesn’t stop it entirely, but it can help you sustain a bit while you set up.
4 Garchomp
Card Advantage At Any Cost
CloseDragons are at a bit of a disadvantage in Pokemon TCG Pocket. There are not many cards that support Dragon Pokemon, unfortunately, and they’re often awkward Energy requirements can be a bit of a hassle to deal with.

Here are the best Pokemon ex cards in Pokemon TCG Pocket.
PostsThankfully, Garchomp is here to help smooth your draws out a bit with a pretty strong ability. Reckless Shearing lets you draw a card each turn, though you do have to discard a card in order to use the ability. It’s not a bad tradeoff, considering you can get two cards a turn without having to use a Supporter.
3 Bastiodon
An Iron Defense
What if you never had to take damage from an attack again? Bastiodon heard this question and then gave you a 50/50 chance to have it happen. The Guarded Grill ability triggers any time it is dealt damage by an attack.
Once triggered, you flip a coin. If heads, Bastiodon takes 100 less damage from the attack. This ability can cancel out practically all damage headed your way. It might not be a guaranteed save every time, but combined with Bastiodon’s 160 HP, your odds are pretty good that it will be sticking around for a while.
2 Darkrai ex
Headed To The Nightmare Realm
CloseDarkrai ex a uniquely powerful card that has some potential to throw out a ton of damage over the course of a game. With Darkrai ex’s Nightmare Aura, you get to toss a bonus 20 damage on your opponent’s Active Pokemon anytime you attach a Darkness Energy to it.
20 damage might not seem like a ton, but when you do this several times over the course of a match, you can have that damage add up. The ability seems to be a set-up for a pretty powerful Weavile ex-based deck since that Pokemon has an attack that deals more damage when your opponent’s Active Pokemon has damage counters on it.
1 Lucario
Punch Harder
CloseThe best ability to come out of Space-Time Smackdown rests comfortably on Lucario. The Fighting Coach ability pumps up all your Fighting-type Pokemon’s moves, giving them a 20 damage boost.
This ability only affects attacks that deal damage to your opponent’s Active Pokemon, so anything that reaches the bench won’t get buffed, but that extra 20 damage can seal the deal on plenty of attacks. Lucario excels when combined with other damage-boosting cards like Giovanni to push your damage above your opponent’s thresholds.
