Most modern Pokemon TCG sets have Elite Trainer Boxes released with them, and while it's not always the case, it does make for a great budget-friendly option for anyone looking to pick up some packs. We scoured the sets to find the cheapest Elite Trainer Boxes around and gathered them in one place just for you.

Keep in mind that these prices come from TCGplayer.com’s Market Value and are subject to change over time.

10 Paradox Rift - Elite Trainer Box

Roaring Moon - $67.29

There’s a lot going on in the Paradox Rift set. Between Ancient and Future Pokemon, ex Pokemon, Paradox Pokemon, and Terastalized Pokemon with new typings, this set is an absolute delight to collect.

The Ancient Pokemon Roaring Moon is featured front and center on the packaging and box of this bundle, as well as being found on the included sleeves. Oddly enough, the promo for this box is Scream Tail and not Roaring Moon, and the Iron Valiant Box, which we’ll see shortly, has an Iron Bundle promo, which is just as curious.

9 Scarlet & Violet Elite Trainer Box

Miraidon - $66.812

With 60 different bonus cards to find from the Scarlet & Violet set, the Elite Trainer Box makes for a solid investment if you’re out hunting special illustration rares, regular illustration rares, hyper rares, and ultra rares.

You get nine packs of the Scarlet & Violet Series, which brings back ex Pokemon to the game after taking a bit of a hiatus and getting a bit of a facelift. Ex Pokmeon are stronger than your average Pokemon, and like most special cards, are the staples of the competitive format. If you’re a fan of any of these types of cards, or just like Miraidon in general, you don’t want to wait much longer before picking up a box as the price steadily climbs.

8 Darkness Ablaze - Elite Trainer Box

$66.79

One of the coolest set names from the Scarlet & Violet era comes from the Darkness Ablaze set, featuring the Legendary Pokemon Eternatus emblazoned upon the front of the box with distinct red and blue coloring.

There aren’t many chase cards in the set, for neither collectors nor players, but Darkness Ablaze does stand out as being the first instance of Charizard VMAX in the card game, and there’s always the Charizard Tax to consider when opening packs, where Charizard cards are just more valuable and prized among collectors. Past Charizard, you have some cool rainbow foil secret rares to hunt for, and with eight packs in each Box, you might be able to snag something neat.

7 Paradox Rift - Elite Trainer Box

Iron Valiant - $66.20

Paradox Pokemon make a return in the Paradox Rift set from 2023, bringing with it Ancient and Future Pokemon for the first time. Each type of categorization comes with a specialty, with Ancient Pokemon dealing lots of high-powered attacks, and Future Pokemon having better abilities.

The Iron Valiant version of the Elite Trainer Box comes with a distinct light green and soft pink aesthetic on the box and the sleeves inside, making a fairly unique design choice for you to play with. Don’t forget that each Elite Trainer Box comes with a code you can redeem on Pokemon Trading Card Game Live for many of the game accessories in the digital game.

6 Scarlet & Violet - Elite Trainer Box

Koraidon - $65.71

The debut of Pokemon Scarlet & Violet in the Trading Card Game brought with it not only Generation IX, but brand new mechanics as well. Tera Pokemon were the big appeal of the set, with Gyarados ex and Arcanine ex being some of the starting Pokemon in this new category.

Scarlet & Violet also marked some major changes to the way the Pokemon TCG would develop moving forward. The yellow borders of cards were replaced with gray ones, matching the design of the Japanese game, and Pokemon Tools were made an official category of Trainer cards, as well as some other quality-of-life updates for players and fans.

5 Temporal Forces - Elite Trainer Box

Walking Wake - $63.00

If you’re on the hunt for some cheaper packs to rip on stream or with friends, you can’t go wrong with an Elite Trainer Box of Temporal Forces. One of the cheaper bundles you can get in the game, there are a lot of really neat cards you can find in the set.

While you can always find hyper-rare cards as well as special illustration rare cards, there are quite a few illustration rare cards that are absolute delights to find in packs. Some of the more impressive cards include:

  • Litten - 167
  • Metagross - 178
  • Deerling - 165

4 Battle Styles - Elite Trainer Box Blue

Rapid Strike Urshifu - $62.60

Coming in just slightly above its redder counterpart is the Battle Styles Elite Trainer Box featuring the Rapid Strike Urshifu. This set featured two very similar types of Elite Trainer Boxes, with the main differences being which form of Urshifu you get with your box.

Otherwise, the boxes are more or less the same, coming with eight packs of Battle Styles, 65 card sleeves, though these are based on the blue Rapid Strike Urshifu, and some dice, markers, and more. The set is based on the Pokemon Sword and Shield expansion, The Isle of Armor, so if you’re familiar with the expansion, you might see some familiar Pokemon.

3 Battle Styles - Elite Trainer Box Red

Single Strike Urshifu - $60.83

Featuring the Wushu Pokemon Urshifu, the Battle Styles set introduced a brand new mechanic to the game by classifying some Pokemon into either Single Strike or Rapid Strike Pokemon. Each type of Pokemon comes with strengths and weaknesses, but generally can be looked at as Single Strike Pokemon being the heavy hitters capable of Knocking Out your opponent’s Active Pokemon in just one blow.

Meanwhile, Rapid Strike Pokemon might require a bit of setup to use or have abilities that have status effects associated with them. This specific box is based on the Single Strike Urshifu and is stylized after the red logo of the card type, while also featuring it in its Gigantamax form.

2 Temporal Forces - Elite Trainer Box

Iron Leaves - $60.65

Released in March 2024, the Temporal Forces set brought with it 218 cards to the game, with some really neat Ancient and Future cards found inside its packs. Pokemon, like Walking Wake, Iron Crown, Raging Bolt, and of course, Iron Leaves joining the game as ex Pokemon cards.

The Elite Trainer Box features Iron Leaves as the full-art promo as well as being the showcase Pokemon on the 65 sleeves you get with the Elite Trainer Box, too. Temporal Forces is a great set since you have a chance of opening the powerful ACE SPEC cards as well, cards so strong that you can only include one of their type in your entire deck.

1 Shrouded Fable - Elite Trainer Box

$55.07

Coming in at the cheapest of the Elite Trainer Boxes are those from the Shrouded Fable set. While the set wasn’t super popular when it first dropped due to a mix of a changing Standard format and some less-than-stellar pull rates, the set has been steadily climbing in value.

That said, it's still not going for much, so now is the time to snag yourself a few boxes. The set is the third special expansion from the Scarlet & Violet era of the game with a focus on the Loyal Three Pokemon, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti, and the Mythical Pokemon Pecharunt.
