Mimikyu is finding its place in the Pokemon TCG, evolving to become more than just an angry Pikachu imitator. Now that Mimikyu has enjoyed time in the spotlight, including several appearances alongside Team Rocket's Jesse and James in the anime, Mimikyu has cemented itself as more than just a fake Pikachu, boasting a terrifying backstory.

Mimikyu is the perfect contrast to Pokemon like Sylveon, which boast incredibly valuable cards supported by their cuteness. Mimikyu's value seems to hinge on the opposite: being incredibly terrifying and off-putting, but in an epic, menacing way akin to a villain from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

Cards are ordered according to their TCGPlayer Market Price, which represents what you might pay on average for a copy of the cards below.

6 Gengar & Mimikyu GX: Team Up (Ultra Rare) – $55.63

The Start Of A Beautifully Haunting Partnership

Mimikyu begins its reign with a friend, as Gengar joins in on the Ghost-type fun, with Mimikyu standing in the background behind Gengar's head. This isn't the last valuable card from Team Up among Mimikyu's best cards, as some gorgeous versions are still to come.

This spooky artwork is gorgeous and could have replaced the alternate full-art version – it's that good.

If the $55 price tag for near-mint (NM) copies is too steep for your budget, then lightly played (LP) copies might be more appealing, ranging from $42 to $49. You won't find many copies of this card floating around in moderately played (MP) or heavily played (HP) conditions, but you might be able to snag a damaged copy for about $18.

5 Mimikyu GX: Lost Thunder (Secret Rare) – $72.24

A Solo Endeavor

This gorgeous Mimikyu GX proves that this creepy Pikachu-skin-wearing Pokemon can sustain prices on its own, as it claims a top spot among the most valuable cards in Lost Thunder. While Gengar's presence helps to boost the value of other Mimikyu cards, this Rainbow Secret Rare cements Mimikyu's value when featured solo.

If you enjoy this card but the $70 price tag sounds a bit steep, you can find a discount via MP copies, which sold for under$30 in 2024. This leaves hope for a steep discount if you just want to own this card but don't feel like paying a premium for one in NM condition.

4 Gengar & Mimikyu GX: Team Up (Full Art) – $79.34

Out In Full Force

Gengar rejoins its friend, jumping into this purple frame with its yellow and black Ghost-type partner. Mimikyu and Gengar each get a nice slice of space on the card, and the light background allows them both to feature as stars of the card.

The background is a better match for Gengar, but Mimikyu's contrasting color gives it a more distinct appearance, as it's easier to spot at a glance.

While it can't crack into the 80s, this card's value continues to rise, as it began January 2024 at around $60 and rose into the high 70s before the end of August. There's no sign of NM copies coming down yet, so you might see this card well into the 80s soon.

3 Team Rocket’s Mimikyu GX: Ash vs. Team Rocket Deck Kit (Promo) – $99.32

A Stunning Exclusive Promo

Team Rocket's Mimikyu is a fantastic promo to break up the parade of valuable Tag Team cards featuring Mimikyu. This gorgeous, Japanese-only promo boasts a focus on Mimikyu, with Jesse, James, and Meowth cheering on the terrifying Ghost-type from the background.

This card deservedly hovers around the $100 mark in LP condition, as NM copies are very difficult to find and rarely sell on TCGplayer, as they're usually graded when they're clean enough to be considered NM. This card can be picked up for about $60 if you don't mind settling for MP, or as little as $40 if you can tolerate HP.

2 Gengar & Mimikyu GX: Team Up (Secret Rare) – $126.85

A Whiplash Of Color

While a Rainbow Secret Rare works incredibly well for Pokemon with simple color palettes, it's a strange combination of colors to see on Pokemon like Gengar and Mimikyu, as they're usually depicted as terrifying Pokemon who lurk in the shadows.

However, this bright cacophony of colors works strangely well for this mischievous duo, with Gengar's monochromatic palette providing the perfect canvas.

NM copies have been soaring to incredible heights, capping out at $149.99 for one of the cleanest copies available. You can find a small discount for LP copies, which clock in at $130, with bargains available on MP copies at about $77.

1 Gengar & Mimikyu GX: Team Up (Alternate Full Art) – $311.77

The Terrifying Two

This gorgeous example of ghostly perfection makes a big splash in the Pokemon TCG, as this card features on a variety of top lists, including as the runner-up to the most valuable Gengar card ever.

While Mimikyu shares its spotlight with Gengar, there's no doubt that Gengarhelps to boost this card's value into the stratosphere.

This card is experiencing an incredible resurgence, booming in value from $267 at the beginning of 2024 to roughly $40 higher by the end of the summer. LP copies command around $260, while NM copies peak at the $330 mark for the cleanest card.
