One of those mysteries comes in the form of four legendary pokemon called the Treasures of Ruin, and you can either fight or capture them if you make the effort of unsealing them. Here's everything you need to know about Wo-Chien, the Tablets of Ruin.
Who Is Wo-Chien?
Wo-Chien, also known as the "Tablets of Ruin", is one of four members of a group of infamous legendaries called the Treasures of Ruin. This Pokemon, just like the other three, was originally a treasure from another kingdom that came to life, and it embodies the grudge of a person punished for writing the king’s evil deeds upon wooden tablets.
After a massive concentration of dark energy, that grudge has clad itself in dead leaves to become a legendary Pokemon. That being said, while Wo-Chien was brought to Paldea to be sealed forever, you can also access a way to unseal this powerful Pokemon and capture it.
How To Obtain Wo-Chien
This legendary Pokemon can be found behind a sealed gate located in the South Province (Area One) zone. You can find the Wo-Chien Shrine at the south-central portion of South Province (Area One), near the shoreline.
That being said, to open the sealed gate you must find eight stakes, spread across various regions along the south/southeast of Paldea. While they're all pretty much out in the open, they can be tricky to spot, so you can find them in the following locations.

Stake #1
This stake can be found on top of a stone platform, beside the main road in South Province (Area Three).
Stake #2
Once you get out of the desertic area in the direction of Zapapico town, you can find this stake right where the grass part begins.
Stake #3
Follow the main road of South Province (Area Three) until the end, and you will be able to get this stake if you climb up the surrounding stone platforms surrounding Artazon town.
Stake #4
Go to South Province (Area Five) and this stake will be waiting out in the open, beside the dam.
Stake #5
To the south of Los Platos town, you will find the next stake sitting out in the open.
Stake #6
Nearby the last stake, you will find this one out in the open on the grass plains to the northeast of Los Platos.
Stake #7
This stake will be on top of a spiral-shaped mount, beside a small rock.
Stake #8
Right at the top of the mount where the gate is located, you will find the last stake.
Legendary Battle - Wo-Chien
Once you have pulled all the stakes, the game will tell you that noise comes from the previously sealed gate. (Your character will face in the general direction helpfully, too.) Go there and open it so Wo-Chien comes out and challenges you to a battle.
It will have the ability "Tablets of Ruin", which lowers the Attack stats of your team, so be sure to bring Sp. Atk-focused pokemon against this foe. It also sports a Dark/Grass type, so the best options against him are Fire, Ice, Fighting, Poison, Flying, and Fairy.
Even better and best of all is Bug, since it will have a quadruple damage advantage against Wo-Chien's type combination.
Your catch rate against Wo-Chien is elevated after you've finished the Pokemon League storyline!
