Pokemon Masters EX allows you to scout, power up, and customize the abilities of your Sync Pairs via its Lucky Skill system. Lucky Skills are an additional passive skill that any Sync Pair can learn, increasing their powers in battle.

There are dozens of passive abilities for you to choose from; whether you need protection from critical hits, want to reduce your foe's Defense, or need to ensure you land your Hypnosis, there's a Lucky Skill that can help. Once you master how to select the best Lucky Skill for a particular Sync Pair, you'll be well on your way to beating the game's toughest challenges, like the rigorous Legendary Gauntlet.

How To Unlock Lucky Skills

Lucky Skills are unlocked by first using five Lucky Scrolls to unlock your Lucky Skill slot. Lucky Scrolls can be acquired by defeating the Battle Villa or by participating in Blissful Bonanza Rally events.

Once your Lucky Skill is unlocked, you're free to use this additional passive slot to gain a new skill via Lucky Cookies. Without Lucky Cookies, you cannot learn Lucky Skills, so you should stock up on a stash of cookies that contain the Lucky Skills you might want.

There are several types of Lucky Cookies, so it's worth pinpointing which cookies are necessary for your desired passive skill.

How To Get And Use Lucky Cookies

There are several types of Lucky Cookies to be aware of: Creamy, Crispy, Crunchy, Chewy, Deluxe, and Guaranteed. Each cookie comes in gold, silver, and bronze tiers which indicate the rarity of the Lucky Skills you may acquire from each type. Each Lucky Cookie gives a random skill from a select pool (except Guaranteed Cookies), so you may need to use multiple cookies to get what you want.

Lucky Cookies, much like Lucky Scrolls, can also be acquired by either completing the Battle Villa or exchanging items during a Blissful Bonanza Rally.

In addition to these methods, you can also acquire every type of Lucky Cookie by participating in the hardest endgame event: The Legendary Gauntlet. The Legendary Gauntlet will task you with defeating three legendary Pokemon in a row with unique teams of Pokemon. You must complete one battle for each legendary before you can challenge all three once again.

As you extend your Legendary Gauntlet streak, you will receive excellent rewards, including both Deluxe Lucky Cookies and Guaranteed Lucky Cookies.

Deluxe Lucky Cookies give you one of the best Lucky Skills available, with choices from Weathered Warrior 3 to Head Start 1. Guaranteed Lucky Cookies give you a definite choice of Lucky Skill, which is indicated when you click on the cookie. These are exceptionally limited rewards from completing Legendary Gauntlet, so use them sparingly.

Which Lucky Skills To Select

When you are ready to teach your Sync Pair a Lucky Skill, unlock the slots with your Lucky Scrolls and then search for the cookie that contains your desired Lucky Skill. In general, Creamy and Crunchy give some of the most useful Lucky Skills like Vigilance (Creamy) and Critical Strike 2 (Crunchy).

If you are uncertain about what types of Lucky Skill to choose, you'll generally want to put Critical Strike 2 (Crunchy), Weathered Warrior 3 (Deluxe), or Super Powered 3 (Deluxe) on most of your damage-dealing Sync Pairs. Powerful Striker Sync Pairs focus on outputting as much damage as possible and thus will need these damage-increasing skills.

On the other hand, tanky Support Sync Pairs will want something like Vigilance (Creamy), Revenge Boost 4 (Deluxe), or Escape Artist (Crispy) that helps increase the number of hits they can take or that protect them from dangerous abilities, like Trap.

Lastly, versatile Tech Sync Pairs have the greatest variety of possibilities for a Lucky Skill. Before selecting a skill, first, pinpoint if this unit will be contributing via damage-dealing or through some sort of utility like lowering the stats of all opponents or inflicting a status condition.

Tech units, like Serena and Delphox, that have Hypnosis will benefit greatly from a skill like Troublemaker 1 (Crunchy), as this passive increases the accuracy of Hypnosis to nearly 100 percent.

Undoubtedly, you'll be using plenty of Crunchy (pink), Creamy (blue), and Deluxe (purple) cookies, so you'll need to amass quite a haul in order to outfit all of your Sync Pairs with the Lucky Skills they will need to excel.

The best place to farm a lot of these is Legendary Gauntlet, so don't be afraid to dip your toes in. Legendary Gauntlet is a challenge and will take some time to master as you build your roster. However, as you complete more and more battles, the power of your Pokemon will increase as they gain Lucky Skills from your hard-won Gauntlet streaks.
