Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon were added to Pokemon Go's collection of obtainable Pokemon, supercharged versions of these two Generation Three Legendaries. Out of the two Primal Raids in Pokemon Go, Primal Kyogre's proves to be significantly more difficult to successfully complete. This is due to this Pokemon's extremely high in-game stats, as well as its lack of double-weaknesses, unlike Primal Groudon with its extreme vulnerability to Water-types.

With all of this in mind, don't bother attempting this Raid on your own, or even with a smaller group of people, as it will prove to be an impossible task to complete. To ensure that defeat is avoided, make sure to go into this Raid with a group of six to eight players, ideally, those who are higher leveled Trainers possessing powerful Pokemon to battle with.

Due to the difficulty of this specific Raid, it is essential that you are Mega Evolving a Pokemon in your battle party if possible.

Doing so will greatly increase the overall damage output of you and your allies, increasing the damage of any Pokemon's attacks if the attack shares a typing with the Mega Evolved Pokemon.

This same benefit can be provided through the Primal Reversion mechanic, benefiting attacks of certain types through the use of either Primal Kyogre or Primal Groudon.

Primal Kyogre: Strengths And Weaknesses

Due to the extreme difficulty of this Primal Raid, putting together a battle party with Primal Kyogre's specific strengths and weaknesses in mind is crucial to your success.

Luckily, with Primal Kyogre being a pure Water-type Pokemon, there are only a handful of strengths and weaknesses to keep in mind. To start, there are only four types that you'll want to avoid using due to Primal Kyogre's resistances. This includes Fire, Ice, Steel, and Water types, dealing significantly reduced damage against this specific opponent.

Adding to the difficulty and challenge of this Raid, there are only two weaknesses that you can take advantage of when battling against Primal Kyogre: Grass and Electric. Due to the large amount of HP that Primal Kyogre has, the use of Pokemon with these types of attacks is essential to guaranteeing victory for you and your allies.

With the difficulty of this Primal Raid, you'll want to take advantage of all the help you can get, including the Same Type Attack Bonus mechanic.

Like in other games from the Pokemon franchise, Same Type Attack Bonus (or STAB) incentivizes using attacks that match the type of the Pokemon using them, providing you with a damage increase for doing so.
