Even Persona 5 gave it a fair share of references and costume cameos. There are emotional ups and downs all throughout Persona 4, but the warm, heartfelt scenes are abundant. Reminisce on some of the most heartwarming moments Persona 4 has to offer.

10 A Special Holiday Date

Persona 4 follows a pretty strict calendar of events, but the Golden version adds a few famous holidays and celebrations to go through. Christmas is a big thing all over the world, and the role-playing game scene is no different.

On Christmas Eve, if you follow your dialogue choices carefully, you’re treated to a little night-before-Christmas date scene that’s as cute and wholesome as it is satisfying and well-animated. For this one, it doesn’t matter who you choose to spend Christmas Eve with; it’s still going to be a happy and heartfelt scene.

9 Overcoming Your Own Self

Most Persona games are about introspection. Part of the game is looking inside of yourself and overcoming the fears and desires that are holding you back. Taking a huge emotional step is never easy, and Persona 4 takes the concept of accepting yourself to a new level.

Every character that faces their own Shadow in the alternate universe and wins is rewarded with a merging of self and shadow, a Persona, and a touching cutscene. Although the post-Shadow scenes are deeply personal, they’re heartwarming moments to be cherished.

8 Meeting The Elder

Kanji Tatsumi is a misunderstood rebel with a big, soft heart. His mother is caring and supportive, albeit on the quirky and eccentric side. Being a mom to someone as unpredictable and high-energy as Kanji comes with a lot of work, but she’s still graceful and kind.

When you first meet her, she recognizes you from Kanji’s descriptions and expresses gratitude. She shares with you that Kanji values your friendship and truly cares about you. It’s a nice insight into where Kanji gets his nurturing and lovingly loyal side.

7 Do It For Her

You go through a lot of stress and pain along the way in Persona 4, and it often feels like hunting down serial murderers can really be a thankless job. Surrounding yourself with your friends and confidants helps a lot, but the real motivation comes from home.

Nanako is the little sister of the protagonist and an adorable supporting character. She brightens the heart every time you get to talk to her, and it makes all your hard work feel worth it. One of the best rewards in the game is getting to hear “I love you, big bro!” from your tiniest family member.

6 The Priestess Social Link

Yukiko Amagi may not be as bold and loud as the rest of your friend group, but she eventually learns to be more sure of herself and act on her instincts. Finishing Yukiko’s social link takes a while and can be tricky to get right, but it pays off in a majorly heartwarming way when you make it to the finale.

In her final scene post-Shadow, a tear-jerking moment is shared between Chie and Yukiko, and Yukiko shares a lot of feelings and regrets before choosing to move forward.

5 Teddie Isn’t Giving Up

Teddie is one of those characters that Persona fans either absolutely love or completely hate. He exists within the Midnight Channel. Being something not of the normal world, he struggles with his identity and coming to terms with just who or what he really is.

While he wants to be something more than just a part of the artificial world, Teddie finds out more about himself than he ever really wanted to know. Still, though, Teddie resolves to stick around and lend a hand to the new friends he’s made.

4 He’s Not A Bad Guy

He’s intimidating and abrasive, but Kanji doesn’t always deserve the reputation that he gets. There’s a lot of gossip that goes around, and it tends to get him into trouble more often than he should be. Near the end of his Social Link, Kanji is getting harassed by an officer who suspects him of committing an offense.

Surprisingly, before you can do anything for him, he’s defended by an unlikely little hero. A little kid vouches for Kanji’s innocence and character in a tender and uplifting scene.

3 Sand, Waves, And Chocolate

The extras added in Golden expand your romantic and social options, and add a lot of fun activities and cutscenes to Persona 4 that nobody knew they needed. The Valentine’s Day arc is one of the most adorable and heart-meltingly sweet scenes in the game, let alone the DLC.

You and your date are treated to a peaceful day at the beach. There are a few variations of the Valentine’s Day cutscene, but no matter who you choose, it’s going to be a good time.

2 A Little Bit Of Both

When you’ve spent so much time maxing out your Social Links and getting close to multiple characters, it gives battle sequences a real sense of camaraderie. On the flip side, it also leads for a lot of emotions if anything happens to them.

During the Izanami fight, a lot goes down that’s downright heartbreaking and soul-crushing. It’s not all bad, though, because despite the sadness, there is still a big heartwarming moment of friendship and love to be cherished forever. Your best friends are always with you, in your heart.

1 We All Worked Together

The true ending of Persona 4 involves a lot of hard work and networking with everyone you possibly can. A lot of characters come together to guide you towards the right path and help you get where you’re going.

You get to see things as they truly are, and the deepest wounds are finally met with profound closure. Besides the swelling sense of satisfaction you get from the true ending in both the main game and Golden, you’re also gifted a magically wholesome ending sequence that deserves its own award.
