Below, we’ve got a full list of the most powerful Personas in Persona 4 Golden that cover each of the eight elements in P4G, as well as info on your Ultimate Persona. For help finding the best Personas in Persona 4 Golden, read on ahead.
This guide contains slight spoilers for elements of Persona 4 Golden.
Best Physical Persona
Though you'll need to wait until 7/10 to unlock the Pentagon Fusion method required to make Yoshitsune, the juice is more than worth the squeeze.
Yoshitsune's signature move is called Hassou Tobi, and it's the strongest physical attack not only in Persona 4 Golden, but in most Persona games. While it deals light physical damage, it's a multi-target move that lands eight time per foe to output an impressive level of physical damage in one move.
If you've only got one enemy to face, go for Brave Blade instead, which is a single-target attack that deals severe physical damage. Either way, pair both attacks with Power Charge to make them deal 250 percent damage for even more power.
One of only two Personas in P4G that can learn Heat Riser to boost one ally's attack, defense, and evasion for three turns (the other being Trumpeter), you'll earn additional bonuses for fusing it on one of two dates according to the Fusion Forecast.
- When fused on 12/19, Yoshitsune will learn Arms Master.
- When fused on 12/24, Yoshitsune will learn Debilitate.
It isn't just Yoshitsune who can gain added skills when fused on set dates!
Be sure to speak to the residents of the Velvet Room about the fusion forecast regularly to learn when you may be able to gain bonus skills for certain Personas on set dates.
Offensively, Yoshitsune is astounding as well. It repels both electric and light magic, while blocking physical and resisting fire. It has no weaknesses, making it hard to exploit with downs and critical hits.

Best Fire Persona
While no longer the Ultimate Persona of the Magician arcana in P4G, Surt still brings the heat with some of the best fire magic in the game. It can be fused beginning at Lv. 69.
Ragnarok once again remains Surt's signature move in P4G, dealing severe fire damage. While it's a single-target move, you can supplement this with Maragidyne if you need a strong multi-target fire attack. Regardless, its fire power increases significantly once it picks up Fire Amp at Lv. 75.
Surt is also a pretty reliable physical Persona as well, knowing Deathbound to deal heavy physical damage and High Counter to give it a chance to repel physical moves.
Innately, Surt repels fire while blocking wind. When fused, it's weak to ice, but it learns Null Ice at Lv. 76 to negate this weak spot.

Best Ice Persona
Your reward for maxing the Fool arcana by seeing at least the Normal Ending of P4G, Loki takes a while to access, but the wait is more than worth it. You can fuse him beginning at Lv. 64.
The only Persona capable of learning Niflheim in P4G, the ultimate ice skill, Loki boosts his ice damage output with Ice Amp to really freeze his foes. He doesn't learn Niflheim until Lv. 70, but he's got Bufudyne and Mabufudyne to close the gap.
Defensively, Loki the Trickster God will be tough for your enemies to handle. He absorbs ice attacks while completely blocking dark. Additionally, he's got Sharp Student to lower his odds of sustaining a crit, with High Counter on top of it for a good chance to bounce physical attacks back at his attacker.
Loki is still weak to fire, so choose when to use him wisely until he picks up Null Fire at Lv. 69.

Legendary brother of the Persona above, Thor is one hell of a powerhouse in P4G.
Not only do you retain some truly impressive physical might with Thor, but you'll also have access to Thunder Reign, which is the strongest electric attack in P4G. Thor will learn it at Lv. 70.
Until then, he's got Ziodyne and Maziodyne to carry him through. Additionally, you've got great physical attacks on Thor as well, with Deathbound easy to pair with Arms Master to sever the HP price. You've also got a layer of defense with High Counter and his eventual Null Physical.
Thor will always absorb electric magic, and he resists physical right up until he learns to outright cancel it with Null Physical. Mind his wind weakness, and Thor will carry the team to shocking heights.

Best Wind Persona
Once again serving as the Ultimate Persona from the Emperor arcana, as represented by your social link with Kanji Tatsumi, Odin is uniquely capable of using the strongest wind move in P4G.
Panta Rhei is the severe-level wind move in the Persona series, and while it belonged to other Personas in different titles, it's Odin's special move in Persona 4 Golden.
Interestingly, Odin also retains his usual electric magic here as well, making him a combination powerhouse if you're trying to save space in your Persona stock.
Using Mind Charge before any of Odin's wind moves, especially with Wind Amp as a passive skill in the background to boost wind damage by 50 percent, can make his wind magic hit particularly hard.
In P4G, Odin absorbs wind magic while completely blocking electric magic. Just be mindful of his weakness to fire that he does not naturally learn to negate, and you'll be as all-powerful as the Allfather himself.

Consistently one of, if not the best light magic Persona in most Persona titles, Daisoujou is invaluable when it comes to dealing light damage.
Samsara is Daisoujou's signature move, which has a base 60 percent chance to insta-kill each foe with light magic. While it won't learn the move until Lv. 67 after being fused at Lv. 60, you'll have access to Hamaon and Mahamaon to tide you over until then.
Shortly before learning Samsara, Daisoujou will also naturally learn the passive skill, Hama Boost, which makes light magic 1.5x more effective.
When pairing Hama Boost with Samsara, the already heavy-hitting Samsara becomes 90 percent effective for insta-kills, making it a pivotal tool in dispatching large groups of enemies.
Daisoujou can block both dark and fire magic innately. He is weak to dark, but he'll learn Endure Dark at Lv. 63, allowing you to survive one dark insta-kill per battle.

Best Dark Magic Persona
After taking the title in Persona 3 as well, Alice once again returns as your most powerful dark magic-using Persona.
The Ultimate Persona from the Death arcana, progressed in your social link with Hisano Kuroda, Alice's signature move is called Die for Me!, and it's the strongest dark move in P4G.
While Alice will know Mamudoon until she learns Die for Me! at Lv. 79, you'll want to focus on her signature move once you get it. Die for Me! has a 60 percent chance to insta-kill a foe with dark magic, up significantly from Mamudoon's 40 percent chance.
But you'll want to keep Mudo Boost on Alice as well, because if she uses Die for Me! with Mudo Boost, the probability of instantly killing all the foes on the field jumps to a 90 percent chance for instant death for each enemy in battle.
Alice is weak to light magic, but this can be countered with Endure Light, which she learns at Lv. 75. She also repels dark magic back at any foes, giving her additional chances to inflict dark-based insta-kills in battle.

Best Persona For Almighty Damage
Most Persona titles see almighty damage being something of a superseding element, since it's almost impossible to block. P4G's almighty magic seems a bit weaker than other titles in the series, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its place.
If you're trying to pack as much almighty punch as possible, try Helel. The final Persona of the Star arcana from your social link with Teddie, Helel isn't available until 12/5, but it becomes a crucially powerful late-game Persona for reliable magic damage that cannot efficiently be blocked.
Morning Star is P4G's strongest almighty-damaging move that is exclusive to Helel. It learns Morning Star at Lv. 94.
It also knows Maragidyne for fire magic, as well as God's Hand for physical damage, making Helel a fairly well-rounded choice for overall damage as well.
In terms of affinities, Helel blocks fire, light, and dark damage entirely, while also resisting physical. It is weak to wind, but it learns Repel Wind at Lv. 91 to turn its weakness into an offense, reversing the attack back at the user.

Izanagi-No-Okami: Your Ultimate Persona In NG+
After completing the story of Persona 4 Golden the first time through and experiencing the game's True Ending, you'll be familiar with Izanagi-no-Okami - it's the transformed Izanagi that Yu called on during the battle against Izanami.
Since this is the only time you use Izanagi-no-Okami during the canonical story of P4G, summoning Izanami-no-Okami is exclusive to NG+.
And with 12 Personas needed to fuse it and a high fusion level, we've got a separate guide to help you fuse Izanagi-no-Okami.
Izanagi-no-Okami is a Lv. 91 Persona, and Persona 4 Golden's New Game Plus does not carry over your player level.
