Persona games always center around a group of high school kids facing something much larger than themselves, and in Persona 3 Reload, assembling the right party for certain fights can be the difference between life and game over. Your teammates level up alongside you in Tartarus, fighting faithfully by your side.

This guide contains spoilers for Persona 3 Reload.
Yukari Takeba
Yukari may not have too much in the way of physical strength (which can be improved with the right, most powerful weapons), but what she lacks in might, she makes up for with a high Magic stat. A huge draw of Yukari is as a healer, since she learns several healing spells that recover HP during tough battles, heal almost every status ailment, and it's not far into the game before Recarm gives her the chance to revive fallen teammates.
On the offensive, though, Yukari's high Magic stat also means she deals pretty good Wind damage when she doesn't have any healing duties to attend.

Junpei Iori
Brash, bold, and perhaps a little bit too flirty, Junpei Iori introduces himself as soon as you get to Gekkoukan High and wastes no time becoming a highly valuable teammate for his physical might.
Sure, Junpei has access to an expanding selection of Fire magic, but with his high Strength stats, it's typically in dealing physical damage where he shines the most. With physical attacks of all varieties on deck throughout Junpei's level progresson, stacking his attack list with HP-consuming physical damage moves may be a good play.
Don't neglect his Fire magic too much, though, since his offensive stats are fairly balanced in comparison to his teammates. This almost-as-steady grasp on magic damage means he's reliable when it's time to exploit enemy weakness, and paired with stat moves, Junpei is a pretty versatile teammate.

PostsAkihiko Sanada
The incredibly popular championship boxer, Akihiko Sanada, has technically been in SEES longer than you have, but he formally joins your party on 5/23 as the team wraps their first school exams and heads into a new block of Tartarus.
With an incredible Strength stat powering up his selection of powerful physical attack moves when using his Persona, Polydeuces, it can be easy to overlook that he's also incredibly adept with Electric magic. He joins the team with Mazio, which may be your first access to multi-target moves.
And as an athlete with a penchant for keeping up his physical training, Akihiko also has great defense, accuracy, and evasion, bringing all the biggest strengths of his high-profile boxing career from the ring with him to dish out to the Shadows in Tartarus.
In terms of his affinities, Akihiko resists Electric moves, but he's quite weak to Ice.

Mitsuru Kirijo
While you'll begin Persona 3 Reload with Mitsuru Kirijo as your team's navigator while you're inside Tartarus, the further up you go in the tower, the tougher it becomes for her to contact you guys. And after the second Full Moon brings a new nav person to the team, Mitsuru joins your party on 6/13.
She and her Persona, Pentheselia, bring with them a strikingly high Magic stat to cash in on the wide array of spells Mitsuru brings to the battlefield. Her powerful Ice magic should strike fear into your enemies, especially since she joins the party with Bufula, the medium-damage dealing Ice move, and may once again be the first in your party to have access to one because of it.
Outside her chilling Ice magic, Mitsuru also has access to an array of status ailment-inflicting moves throughout her leveling progression. Providing the team with the ability to inflict ailments like Charm or Confuse can turn the tide of a battle against a Shadow who just won't let up. Outside that, she also picks up a few stat boost and healing moves along the way, too.
In battle, you'll find that though she's weak to Fire magic, she resists Ice.

PostsFuuka Yamagishi
Feeling more like a party member than she ever used to, your bullied classmate Fuuka Yamagishi takes over for Mitsuru following the second Full Moon operation to become your party's navigator as you continue to climb higher into Tartarus, able to help the team by guiding you along and scanning Shadows for their affinities.
Not only does this ability, Full Scan, provide a peek into what attacks most of your enemies will have access to, it also helps you prepare by showing you the Shadow's complete affinity chart. However, you'll need to wait one complete turn in battle and then expend 35 SP per scan to have Fuuka provide the reading.
However, Fuuka now learns additional support moves to help you further in Tartarus, like allowing you to become invisible to most Shadows (outside strong ones and Gatekeepers), buff your stats before a fight, and more. The downside of this is that Fuuka's support moves all cost SP, and you'll need to replenish hers like any other teammate with items if you'd like to use them for a longer period.

64

Fuuka can map the entire current floor of Tartarus, providing a full map and a shortcut to the stairs.
Aigis
After you've gone to Yakushima just before the summer break, you'll add a new teammate to your party upon arriving back in Port Island: Aigis, the anti-Shadow machine who's oddly drawn to your protagonist when you meet her at the beach.
She becomes a proper party member beginning 7/24, with the conversation triggering the next time you visit Tartarus after your return from the beach. When you add Aigis to your party, you'll have access to plentiful support skills to help buff the party during battle. While they start as single-target moves, leveling Aigis up graduates these to multi-target versions.
Offensively, it should come as no surprise that Aigis has a high Strength stat and a wealth of physical attack moves, both single and multi-target, and often capable of dealing almost every type of physical damage depending on the moves you have her keep as she levels up.
As an Anti-Shadow machine, Aigis resists Pierce damage, but man, does she deal it out herself with her default attack. Just be mindful of her weakness to Electric skills.

Koromaru moves into the dorms with you guys after he heals from the wounds he sustains in this battle, and he joins the party proper beginning on8/8. With him comes Cerberus, the infamous three-headed Hell Hound, capable of dealing solid amounts of Dark damage and able to use insta-kill Dark spells to handle foes in a snap.
Defensively, Koromaru is resistant to fire - which probably has to do with the Hell Hound thing - and is weak to Light magic.

PostsKen Amada
After you meet him a few times around Port Island and he spends his summer staying with SEES at Iwatodai Dorms working with Ikutsuki to develop his potential, Ken officially joins SEES on 8/28.
Ken's first Persona is called Nemesis, and you'll find Ken relying on him often, even in his Theurgy attack. Nemesis has a broad range of abilities, specializing in Light magic but capable of dealing Electric damage, using a variety of support moves, and even occasionally capable of being left to healing duties during a fight.
As a Light Persona, though, Ken and Nemesis are weak to Dark attacks.

You may not have even gotten to try the younger of the two new additions out in Tartarus just yet before you've got another.
Bringing his Persona, Castor, who very closely resemble's Akihiko's Persona, Shinjiro is a true powerhouse of a teammate who specializes in strong Physical damage. The majority of his move pool is HP-based Slash and Strike moves that deal colossal amounts of damage, and he's even got the skills to power up his moves or endure fatal blows once per battle.
Interestingly enough, Shinjiro has no affinities - Castor isn't weak or strong against any element in particular, with each damage type doing normal damage to Shinjiro.

Metis (Episode Aigis Exclusive)
Exclusive to the Episode Aigis content included in the Persona 3 Reload Expansion Pass, Metis is another Anti-Shadow Weapon like Aigis. You'll have access to Metis as a teammate as soon as you're ready to begin exploring the first section in the Abyss of Time, the Malebolge door in the Desert of Doors.
Using weapons similar to Shinjiro, Metis deals Strike damage when attacking with her melee move. She's got great physical prowess in her Persona, Psyche, as well, with a higher Strength stat than Magic to bolster the number of Slash and Strike HP moves she learns along the way as you level her up with the rest of the group.
In terms of magic, though, Psyche still has great stats there, too, which gives more use to her single-target Ice and Wind skills. She rounds out her roster of moves with plenty of support skills, always eager to do what she can to help Aigis. Psyche has no weaknesses, which makes Metis a good choice for a majority of the fights in the DLC.
