As you near the top of Tartarus in Persona 3 Reload, you'll encounter more Gatekeeper bosses. These shadows block your path and challenge your skill, forcing you to give it your all to continue your ascent. Each Gatekeeper has a unique combination of abilities and affinities that make them a threat.

The Cultist of Death is the first of three battles, which lead to the last blockade in Tartarus. You'll not only have to prepare for this battle, but the next two as well, as there's no opportunity to change out your party members. Here's everything you need to know about the Cultist of Death.

Cultist Of Death Overview

In the last stretch of the Adamah block, you'll encounter three Gatekeepers in a row. Starting on floor 253, the first of these shadows appears. The Cultist of Death is the first of these, and the simplest to defeat.

The difficulty comes from having to be ready for all three battles at once, since the fights are back-to-back. Below is a breakdown of the Cultist of Death's affinities and abilities, so you know what to expect in battle.

Best Party Composition

Designing your party involves careful choices: you aren't preparing for a single battle. Instead, you'll want to bring staple party members that can hold their own, even when their weaknesses are hit. This can vary based on your preferences, but here are some tips:

  • Leave Koromaru at the entrance. While he's a good fighter, his weaknesses and abilities put him at a disadvantage in this block.
  • Yukari is great for support. Bringing her along is a great idea, as she can heal and cure status ailments. Her weakness can be guarded with a magic mirror when necessary. For this boss, she can use Garudyne to hit its weakness.
  • Akihiko can fight regardless of affinities. With both Electric and Strike attacks, he can almost always fight a Gatekeeper. He also resists Electric, which will be useful for the other rounds on the next floors.
  • Aigis is a risk. While she can be a useful ally, in this series of fights, she can make your party vulnerable. Since Yukari already has a weakness to Electric, leave Aigis behind (unless you plan to act as support instead)

How To Beat Cultist Of Death

For this fight, prioritize using Garu skills. This will knock down the shadow and allow you to initiate an All-Out Attack. If you bring a Persona with Garu skills, you can double the number of powerful attacks your team unleashes.

Use your Theurgy to reduce the Cultist of Death's HP as well. From Fuuka's buffs to your party's attacks, Theurgy can speed up the fight and make things much easier.

Keep your HP up, as Almighty attacks cannot be blocked. Debuff the Cultist of Death's attack and buff your defense to reduce the damage these attacks do.

So long as you don't drag the fight out, it will be over soon. Collect your rewards and get ready for the next fight one floor up.
