PostsHit Paulownia Mall to grab some gear for your new and returning teammates before diving into this section of the Desert of Doors. Another section with only one door guardian fight to handle about halfway through, the Cocytus realm in Episode Aigis is your chance to dive back into P3R as you know it.
Cocytus Overview
Plenty of things begin to return to normal as you venture into Cocytus in Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis. For starters, you'll have Junpei and Koromaru rejoin the team once you're ready to start exploring the new area, and they'll be appropriately leveled for the point at which they're jumping back in, jumping onto your team at level 31.
Not only do you have the two returning teammates to play with as you mess with your team configuration to see what works best for you and your playstyle, inside of Cocytus, you'll find plenty of familiar features from the base game of Persona 3 Reload. You'll find the return of two P3R-exclusive features once you've arrived in Cocytus, including:
- Monad doors are back in the DLC, but they're a bit different than they are in the base game. Now, you'll have three doors to choose from, each with a different difficulty level. The tougher the fight you endure inside that Monad door in Episode Aigis, the more treasure chests you'll find on the other side.
- Tepid players may want to choose the door on the left, as it's the least challenging fight.
- The middle door is just what it seems - middle of the road, not too tough, but not as rewarding, either.
- If you're confident in your combat abilities by now, always choose the rightmost door - it's the toughest fight, but it's got the best loot.
- Great Clock Pocket Watches that spawn occasionally near the stairs down to the next level as you spend your Twilight Fragments opening chests that are occasionally scattered throughout each randomly-generated floor of Cocytus. These work like the base game, allowing you to choose two teammates to immediately bring to Aigis' level following their next battle.
- If you rely consistently on the same set of characters, this is a great way to bring teammates up to snuff if they're lagging behind. Since every teammate jumps to Aigis' current level no matter what they were at before, you get more bang for your Twilight Fragment buck if you use this to keep unused teammates level with the rest of the group, since they jump more levels by default.
Outside these new features, you'll find Cocytus much like the previous area of Malebolge, with Shadows to fight, loot to grab, and plenty of treasure chests along the way. The Cocytus area is closely tied with the Yabbashah block of Tartarus in the base game in that it brings the same features into the fold to expand your game now that you've gotten the hang of things.

Imprudent Maya *
(Normal damage for every attack type)
Like back in Malebolge, you've got a boss battle waiting for you in the Cocytus door of Persona 3 Reload: Episode Aigis. You'll find the battle on Cocytus B9, with the same teleporter back to the Desert of Doors on B8 if you need to regroup and/or save the game before triggering it. Once you venture down, you'll be up against Cowardly Maya and its two support Shadows.
Defeating Cowardly Maya brings you into the very first of many memories specific to one member of SEES, beginning with Ken. Viewing this cutscene is the formal end of the Cocytus, triggering the trophy "The Vengeful One" added with the Episode Aigis DLC and unlocking the next block in the Desert of Doors, Caina.
