8 Magatama

Persona 3: Reload's combat system is all about exploiting enemy weaknesses to gain an advantage in battle. What happens if you aren't carrying a persona with the right spell, or you don't have the correct party member in your lineup? You use damaging items like Magatama, that's what.

Magatama and gems are items that have a single-use spell stored inside them. You can then use these items to exploit an enemy's weakness whenever you want, in case you don't have a suitable persona or party member, making them incredibly helpful and keeps your battle strategies flexible.

7 Beads

  • Restores HP to full
  • Relatively common and easy to find

Sometimes you need a lot of healing, and beads are your best bet. These simple items will restore your HP to full upon use, no questions asked. While there are other healing items that restore fixed amounts of HP, or a percentage, beads outperform them.

Beads also have a multi-target equivalent called bead chains. These items will restore the HP of your entire battle party to full when used, making them powerful tools to prevent an untimely game-over. Make sure to keep a few of these on-hand at all times.

6 Amrita Gem

Status ailments are both a blessing and a curse; when you use them, they are fantastic spells for dealing with obnoxious enemies, but when used against you, they can be an absolute pain. Keeping ways to remove status ailments is a necessity.

Amrita gems offer you the ability to remove all forms of ailments on a single target without needing personas to do it for you. Amrita soda is the multi-target version of the amrita gem, and should also be valued for the same reasons.

5 Revival Bead

  • Revives party members who get defeated
  • Another fairly common item to find

Staying alive can be a hard thing to do. Maybe you got ambushed, or you weren't prepared to face a certain boss, and it tore through your party like paper. Revival items, like the revival bead, are an indispensable part of your toolkit for those very moments.

Spells like recarm can be pretty SP intensive at times, especially in the early game, so items like revival beads can really help out in case something goes wrong. They are also fairly common items to find, so you will most likely have a bunch in no time at all.

4 Attack/Magic Mirror

  • Both defesnive and offensive

Magic mirrors are miraculous little items that can be both defensive and offensive tools. When you use one of these mirrors, you will reflect either a physical attack or a magic attack back at the enemy.

As long as you know what type of attack an enemy is likely to use, you can use the appropriate mirror to launch the attack right back at them. This will not only potentially damage your foe, but also save your party member from an attack in the process.

3 Precious Egg

  • Completely restores your SP
  • More persona skills, more combat power

Just like beads, precious eggs are very powerful restorative items. Unlike beads, however, it is that they restore your SP to full, rather than your HP. This means more spells and persona skills for you to use, making them arguably better items.

While there are other, less potent SP restoring items, these eggs are the best of the best at doing this specific type of job. Make sure to keep a few on you, especially for boss fights in the latter portions of the game, where you will undoubtedly be spamming high SP cost skills more frequently.

2 Homunculus

  • Will save you from dying to instant death spells
  • Automatically activates from inventory

Nobody likes dying to instant death spells like Mudoon and Hamaon. An unlucky hit from one of these spells could be an instant gameover and require you to get back lost progress. There is an item, however, that can spare you from this fate.

Homunculi are items that you keep on your person, but don't use like regular consumables. Once you or a party member are hit with an instant death spell, the homunclus will automatically activate, taking the spell in your place. Always keep a few on you to avoid instant death.

1 Soma

  • One of the best healing items in the game
  • Restores all your HP and SP

Looking for the ultimate healing item? Look no further, somas are the healing item that does everything. It can fully restore all your HP and SP in one go, making them incredibly valuable. Simple, yet incredibly effective.

While they are just single target items, a well-timed soma can mean the difference between victory and defeat if you patch up the right party member. They are a little more on the rarer side, however, so be careful with when you use them.
