Although Persona 3 Portable won’t require you to go into the large white door beside the entrance to Tartarus to tackle the ten bonus floors of the Monad Depths, we can’t recommend enough that you try. This stretch of Tartarus is larger than the other floors, though, and the enemies’ strength leaves little room for error.

However, those strong enough to brave these extra floors will be rewarded with more EXP and loot than you may even know what to do with. For all the help you’ll need unlocking Monad and reaching the end, follow along with our guide below.
With Monad being an extra feature to which you likely won't have access until late-game, beware of spoilers for Persona 3 Portable ahead.
How To Unlock The Monad Depths
Unlike the other blocks of Tartarus, Monad is not unlocked on a set date or by story progression.
To unlock access to the Monad Depths, you’ll need to accept and complete one of Elizabeth or Theodore’s Velvet Room Requests.
The request you’re looking for is number 53, in which your Velvet Room attendant is in search of a Bloody Button. This can be obtained only by defeating The Reaper – which is definitely no small task.
The Reaper can spawn on any floor of Tartarus by simply being on that floor too long. The duration changes depending on the size of the floor, but once your nav person tells you they sense Death, it means you’ve got about30 seconds before The Reaper spawns.
However, The Reaper is Lv. 99 who knows the heaviest version of every magic spell, as well as break spells to make sure those moves hit your party. And since it’s strong against every kind of magic, you’re in for one hell of a battle.
We’ve got a full guide to taking down The Reaper if you need some help with the long and complicated battle, containing a full affinity chart and strategies.
After finishing this daunting battle, return the Button to your attendant. When you return to the entrance to Tartarus after the quest is complete, you’ll see a large white door to the right of the entrance to Tartarus.
Build a party like normal and interact with the white door to enter Monad.
However, when you go in, know that there aren't teleporters like there usually are in Tartarus. You have to start from the beginning of Monad each time.
Shadows And Shuffle Time Personas In The Monad Depths
Inside the Monad Depths in P3P, you'll find surprisingly little variation in shadows, with only 12 unique shadows within the block, and they all spawn on every block.
The crux of this is that they range in level from Lvs. 88-98. Not only that, but once you pass the halfway point of this block, shadows will appear in greatly varied groups.
This will dampen the effects of multi-target attacks, as they'll often have opposite affinities. You'll need to constantly ask Fuuka for analysis to be sure you're not wasting an attack or healing the enemy.

To finish filling out your Compendium, you'll need to perform some fusions, as you'll still be missing several entries even if you've collected every Persona from shuffle time throughout Tartarus.
They're largely maxed social link Personas from here, which require the completion of an arcana's social link before you can access the Ultimate Persona of that arcana.

Treasure In The Monad Depths
While the treasure chests, both regular and rare, inside the regular section of Tartarus are pretty randomized, the items you'll find throughout the Monad Depths are located on specific floors.
No more will your teammates eagerly present you with Dis-Rage - the loot in the Monad Depths in P3P is all powerful weaponry, armor, and accessories, and there's something there for everyone in SEES.
From 2F-9F, you can find three items per floor, which won't vary. However, once you reach 5F, the items begin to repeat on 6F, just in reverse order.

Depending on when you tackle Monad, this gear may be significantly stronger than what you've got, so be sure you're always checking your team's equip screen to see if you can offer a new boost of some kind as the game grows more difficult.
What's At The End Of Monad?
With the Monad Depths being an option bonus block of Tartarus, you'll find no ties to the main story at the end like you would a regular block.
Instead, for reaching the end, you'll be rewarded with ¥1,000,000, as well as with the opportunity to fight The Ultimate Opponent.
If you are playing on NG+, Monad opens on 4/22. While your protagonist's level carries over, unfortunately, the same is not true of your teammates.
However, if you're of a high enough level when Monad opens, bringing the team through there and being your primary attacker (since your Compendium carries over as well), Monad is a great place to grind in NG+.
