Everything you and the rest of the SEES Team have been working for so far in Persona 3 Portable has led to this – the final Full Moon Operation. After a brief detour to handle Takaya and Jin from Strega on your way to the fight, it’s finally time to take on your last super-powerful shadow and get rid of the Dark Hour once and for all.

But as the final Full Moon shadow, the Hanged Man is definitely not going down without a fight. For help with the Hanged Man and its Devious Mayas, follow along with our guide below.
As the final of your Full Moon Operations, we avoid them where we can, but this guide may still contain spoilers for Persona 3 Portable.
Hanged Man Battle Setup
You encounter Arcana Hanged Man on 11/3, almost immediately following your battle with Takaya and Jin from Strega.
Thankfully, you’re able to restructure your party before engaging in the second fight of the night.
Recommended Party
For this battle against Arcana Hanged Man in P3P, we used Junpei, Yukari, and Aigis.
We detail our battle strategy much more a bit further down in this guide, but you’ll want plenty of strong physical and wind moves in this battle.
Junpei not only has plenty of options for physical attacks, but he’s also got Marakukaja to boost the team’s defense and a resistance to fire magic, which may come into play in the battle ahead.
Not only can Yukari help here with her ample wind magic (that’s bolstered by her high magic stat), Yukari also makes for one of the best healers on the team.
Finally, where Aigis shines is in her powerful physical moves. She can also help with buffing the team in the fight, but attacking is where she shines.
Aigis learns Heat Wave at Lv. 51, which deals medium strike damage to all foes, and you’ll be relying on multi-target physical and wind moves in this battle.
Additionally, Fatal End can help as well once Arcana Hanged Man is downed and in range.
Both Yukari and Aigis may face trouble from the Right Maya, who knows electric magic.
If you're unable to dispatch all three Mayas at once, focus on the Right Maya first to keep the two of them safe.
Recommended Level And Personas
Without any time to grind after the battle on your way here, your level from the fight with Takaya and Jin will carry over (unless the EXP from that battle leveled you up).
We recommended being around Lv. 50 for that fight, and with Arcana Hanged Man at Lv. 54 and each of the Maya statues at Lv. 48, you’ll be in pretty good shape. If you survived the battle with Takaya and Jin, you’ll be fine for the Hanged Man.
We wound up using Thor to handle the Devious Maya enemies quickly and neatly using the Vicious Strike attack that Thor knows innately upon fusion to deal heavy strike damage to all foes.
Partnered with its high strength stat, our Thor was able to kill all three Mayas with a single Vicious Strike.
Thor is an ultimate Persona. Before you can fuse him, you’ll need to have maxed out your Chariot social link with either Kazushi or Rio, depending on your protagonist.
If you don’t have access to Thor yet, let Aigis and Yukari handle the Mayas if you don’t have a similarly helpful multi-target move. It may take them a bit longer than Thor, but they’ll still get the job done.
Without Thor, bring any Persona with good physical and wind moves to contribute to those weaker spots, and you'll have no trouble.

Arcana Hanged Man Battle Strategy
How To Take Out The Devious Mayas
One of the first things to keep in mind for your battle against Arcana Hanged Man is that, when the shadow is hanging, you cannot hit it.
To get it down, you'll need to handle the three Devious Maya statues first. Consult the charts above, as each Maya has a slightly different affinity.
This means that you may have a hard time using multi-target moves in one of these three elements, depending on which of the Mayas are still alive when you use it.
However, you’ll need to get rid of the Mayas to get Hanged Man to fall.
Once it’s on the ground, you can then attack Arcana Hanged Man before it hangs itself again and re-summons the Mayas to effectively restart the cycle.
The fastest way around Maya’s mismatched affinities is to focus on physical, wind, or almighty attacks in this fight, especially if they’re multi-target versions.
The Mayas are damaged normally by anything they don’t directly nullify, so a powerful attack of one of these elements could possibly take them all out at once.
Keep your eye out for Hanged Man’s use of Armed and Ready as well when the Mayas are in play.
Arcana Hanged Man can opt to sacrifice one of the Mayas to hit your team with heavy almighty damage, an element against which you can’t really block.
How To Deal Damage To The Hanged Man
However, Hanged Man falls into your team’s attack range once all three Mayas are gone. When it falls, it automatically sets you up for an All-Out Attack, so lay one on it to begin your direct assault strong with a good chunk of damage.
After the All-Out Attacked, Hanged Man will stay on the ground until it re-summons the Mayas. Unless you’re in dire straits, focus on attacking while it’s down to deal as much damage as possible while you can and save healing for later.
This is your only chance to damage Arcana Hanged Man directly, so lob your heaviest attacks at it during this stage of the battle. Hanged Man is damaged normally by everything but light and dark, so use this to your advantage and use your strongest spells.
However, it won’t be long before the Hanged Man uses Summon to bring back the Mayas and get itself back in the air, beginning the entire process again.
This means that the trick to the battle is in its repetition. Once you have a pattern down for getting rid of the Mayas and then laying into Hanged Man, simply repeat it as needed until the final Full Moon shadow finally goes down.
Congrats on defeating your final Full Moon shadow! Strap in for some cutscenes after the battle is done, though, as the second part of P3P is only just beginning...
