Path of Exile 2 Players Are Upset With "Hilariously Bad" Respec Costs

Summary
- Path of Exile 2 fans are calling for developer Grinding Gear Games to lower the cost of respecs.
- Many are finding that skill respecs at higher levels are costing a fortune, and that the current system is too punishing.
Path of Exile 2 got off to the best possible start earlier this month, releasing in early access to a whopping all-time player peak of almost 600,000 on its launch weekend. So many players were waiting to get in that it even reportedly broke SteamDB, so it's safe to say that while the launch was rocky, it was a roaring success.
Path of Exile fans are now getting their hands on the sequel, grinding away for loot and gold, and generally enjoying themselves quite a bit. There are some things that could use some work though, as complaints have started surfacing about things like loot drops and respec costs, the latter being a rather big issue in the community at the moment.
Path Of Exile 2 Fans Want Respec Costs Lowered
In a fairly popular post on the Path of Exile subreddit by user Schokkushen, they claim that respec costs are currently "way too high", which is punishing them for trying out certain skills. To respec a skill, you need to visit the Hooded One and pay a small amount of gold to refund one skill point, which doesn't sound all that bad in itself.
Unfortunately, the amount of gold you need to respec doesn't change depending on how many skills you've unlocked, which means a small amount of gold quickly racks up to tens of thousands if you have a more drastic respec in mind. The replies to Schokkushen's thread is filled with like-minded fans, such as Parater7125, who was very annoyed they had to grind for an hour just to fund their respecs.

Posts 2Other users like Q1Bbz claim that it's also incredibly punishing to newcomers like themselves, who may find the skill trees far too vast or confusing to get a good idea of how each skill works together without following a guide.
It is worth noting that Path of Exile 2 is still in early access, so there's plenty of opportunity for Grinding Gear Games to actually listen to fan feedback and lower the costs, though it seems many in the thread are doubtful it will happen. Then again, the studio did listen to complaints about loot drops and issued a tweak to make the game more generous. Who knows, if we keep hounding them, maybe they'll give in?
