Amazon is one of the Ascendancies of the Huntress class from Path of Exile 2 that was added to the game alongside Dawn of the Hunt. As such, similar to every other class, you can build Amazon in a way where you can use the class in the endgame.

However, getting a build ready means going through the campaign twice while playing the Dawn of the Hunt league and that's the hard part, especially after the changes brought in by the developers. If you're interested in playing this class, here's a guide that will cover all the necessary details for you.

Path of Exile 2 is in Early Access, so builds can change depending upon buffs and nerfs once the full version officially launches in the future.

Amazon Overview

Amazon is an Ascendancy for the Huntress class, and it's exceptionally strong, if built right. The early game with the Huntress is rough, and there's no easy way to go about it. If you play this class traditionally by relying on the Parry skill, you will struggle a lot and deal very little damage to bosses.

However, your journey will become a lot easier if you go with the Bleed build with abilities like Rake and Twister. This will make it easy to go past Act 1 and part of Act 2, though the game gets hard once again when you face Jamnara, and you will have to learn that fight properly.

Once you reach Act 2, you will start picking up more skills that will enhance the Bleed build even further, and help with both boss damage and mob clears. However, by the end of Act 2, the Bleed starts to fall off massively, and you will switch to the Lightning Spear build instead.

The damage output from Lightning Spear far outweighs Bleed damage, and the only reason you wait for so long is because most of the good support skills are locked behind Uncut Support Gems Level 2 and Level 3. These start dropping towards the end of Act 3 and in Cruel Mode, so you won't have too much trouble switching things.

Overall, neither of the builds is too hard to play mechanically, though the Lightning Spear one can take a bit of time getting used to. Finally, if you're worried about Gold required to respec your skills, you will have more than enough by the time you reach Act 3.

The reason why the build gets changed so much is because Lightning Spear feels very weak in the early game, but it can one shot enemies in the late game. However, Bleed is very strong and helps you through bosses like Geonor or Jamnara. Additionally, Lightning Spear build needs Frenzy charges, which require the Parry skill, and makes it hard to play. Once you unlock Sniper's Mark, you don't need Parry anymore, but you can't do it until Act 3.

Amazon Build Leveling Guide

Act 1

In the first Act, you will primarily focus on picking up a few essential skills and keep pushing through it as fast as possible. For starters, you will need Twister and Whirling Slash, which will help you clear the early game bosses. After you have played through 50 percent of Act 1, you will get to unlock Rake.

Defeat the King of the Mists boss to get your first Uncut Spirit Gem and unlock Herald of Blood, which will further enhance Rake. Your objective will be to use Twister and keep spamming Rake, which will tear through most of the common enemies.

In the case of the bosses, use the same strategy until they are dead. You will also need a very important Support Gem called Stomping Ground, which will amplify Rake quite a bit and help you through Act 1.

Here's how the skills will look like at the end of Act 1:

  • Rake: Stomping Ground + Concentrated Effect
  • Herald of Blood: Brutality + Magnified Effect
  • Twister
  • Whirling Slash

Act 2

In the second Act, you don't change much, as most of the skills required to further enhance the build won't unlock here. However, you will get access to Blood Hunt, and you can attach Bloodlust and Execute to it.

If you farm for a while and level up enough, you will also get access to Bloodhound's Mark, which is also a crucial part of the build. Finally, you also need to unlock Spearfield and attach Lacerate and Rage to it.

You'll also unlock the Amazon Ascendancy in Act 2 in the Trial of Sekhemas and activate Skill Speed and Predatory Instinct.

Here's what your skills will look like at the end of Act 2:

  • Rake: Stomping Ground + Concentrated Effect
  • Herald of Blood: Brutality + Magnified Effect
  • Spearfield: Lacerate + Rage
  • Blood Hunt: Bloodlust + Execute
  • Bloodhound's Mark

Act 3

Once you reach Act 3, both Bleed and Stomping Ground have served their purpose, and you need to start moving towards theLightning Spear build. You will need to unlock Lightning Spear and attach Volt, Perpetual Charge, and Twofold to it. You'll also need Storm Lance and attach Lightning Infusion, Primal Armament, and Blindside to it.

Unlock Sniper's Mark and attach Arcane Tempo and Inspiration. Finally, you'll also need to unlock Infuse Weapon from the Amazon Ascendency and attach Lightning Exposure and Blind to it. You can do this from the Trial of Chaos in Act 3. The Infuse Weapon skill is provided upon unlocking the Elemental Infusion from the Amazon Ascendancy skill tree.

Herald of Thunder can also be unlocked in Act 3, and you'll have to attach Reach and Innervate to it.

Here's how your skills will look at the end of Act 3:

  • Lightning Spear: Volt + Perpetual Charge + Twofold
  • Storm Lance: Lightning Infusion + Primal Armament + Blindside
  • Sniper's Mark: Arcane Tempo + Inspiration
  • Infuse Weapon: Lightning Exposure + Blind
  • Herald of Thunder: Reach + Innervate

Cruel Mode and Mapping

Once you hit Cruel Mode, you will start getting access to more high-level Gems, which will let you unlock Rhoa Mount and Combat Frenzy. Attach Meat Shield and Loyalty to Rhoa Mount and attach Cannibalism and Precision to Combat Frenzy.

You can also unlock Barrage here and unlock Permediation and Ingenuity to it.

Here's how your skills will look once everything is ready:

  • Lightning Spear: Volt + Perpetual Charge + Twofold
  • Storm Lance: Lightning Infusion + Primal Armament + Blindside
  • Sniper's Mark: Arcane Tempo + Inspiration
  • Infuse Weapon: Lightning Exposure + Blind
  • Herald of Thunder: Reach + Innervate
  • Rhoa Mount: Meat Shield + Loyalty
  • Combat Frenzy: Cannibalism + Precision
  • Barrage: Permediation + Ingenuity

Passive Skill Tree

When it comes to the Passive Skill Tree, focus on Dexterity and Strength in the early game, as that will improve your build. Anything that buffs up Physical Damage will also be worth investing in, since Bleed will carry you through Act 1 and Act 2.

Once you reach Act 3, you will start unlocking some of the nodes that are more focused on Elemental Damage rather than Physical Damage. You'll have to respec a bit, but you should have more than enough Gold to get it done.

Tips To Play Amazon Build

In the early game, all you need to do is use Twister and Rake in combination to deal damage to bosses. You will deal a lot of damage to early game bosses, while basic mobs won't stand a chance either, as Herald of Blood pops will kill everyone around you.

Once you switch to Lightning Spear, the playstyle becomes a bit different. You will throw in a Lightning Spear, but don't spam it. Additionally, you'll throw a Storm Lance, followed by a Sniper's Mark, and then charge your Barrage to throw a Storm Lance once again. This will deal incredible damage to bosses, and when combined with Lightning Spear, you should have no issues in the late-game.
