Though there are plenty of vacant homes your Paras can purchase outright to help them get a jump on a new life in Melino when you're playing Paralives, if you're more of a builder in life sim games, then you'll be happy to know there are boundless opportunities for building, too.

Grab one of the vacant lots around Melino (or even in the other fully vacant world, if you're feeling brave), pop into Build Mode, and follow along with our handful of helpful tips to help you master building in Paralives so your Paras can enjoy their extravagant new homes.

Look Up Actual Floorplans

Find A House You Like IRL, Then Get Building

If you're going for realism in your Paralives builds, then the best way to nail that sense is to model the builds you create off of real floor plans from actual homes. Load up a realty website and look around, find the vibe you want to bring to the game with this build, and keep it in mind when you click back into Build mode.

Real buildings can be funny in ways you don't expect when building in Paralives. Homes have fewer windows than you might be preparing to place, or hallways longer or more narrow than you were carving out with the wall tool, and so on. Plus, who doesn't want a chance to make their dream home in a game like this?

Use Wall Separators When Painting

Create More Unique Looks With Blended Walls

If you're building a home from scratch, then you'll want to pay attention to detail when you're crafting your dream home in Paralives. We've all built the big rectangle house a time or two when we were younger, but there are plenty of ways to separate out spaces in life simulators now, even without making them separate rooms.

If you're trying to paint one wall two colors, such as a living room that flows seamlessly into a kitchen area in an open floor plan home, then you can use a wall separator to create space on said wall for each color. It saves you from having to manually paint each time you want to do something a little different on the same wall!

Manipulate The Size Of Furniture

Most Pieces Can Be Stretched Or Shrunk

Whether you use it to size up your favorite twin-size bed to fit a happy couple after the start of a relationship, shrink a couch down to love seat size, increase the height of an archway door to be a bit more grandiose, or you just want to do something odd like create a massive toilet, the option is yours with the item manipulation tools in Paralives.

Most items will appear with blue arrows on the edges of the items, so simply click to drag them in different directions and see what kinds of things you can create for your Paras' new homes.

Use Whichever Buy Category Feels Most Comfortable

Sort By Rooms Or By Item Types

There's already an extensive furniture catalog in Paralives despite it only being out in early access at the time we're publishing this list, and it can be easy to get overwhelmed trying to find what you need. Thankfully, the game lets you sort the Buy catalog in a couple ways.

Room view is helpful when you're trying to make one specific room in the house at a time and need the typical slew of items nearby - beds and dressers in the Bedroom category, fridges and stoves in the Kitchen, and so on. Alternatively, you can sort by category instead to see items more at a glance, with more category breakdowns here to help you find anything quicker.

Hang Artifact Paintings As Wall Art

Who Doesn't Want Free Rare Art?

Have you been digging around town for buried treasure chests, coming home at the end of a long and tiring day sifting through the dirt for rare paintings or statues? If you don't plan to donate them to the Museum or the Community Center bundles in Melino, you can use your findings for free decor.

Paralives features dozens of real-world art pieces as Artifacts, hidden in chests throughout the world. Seek some out and dig them up to see what kind of cool art you can find!

Clutter Can Be Your Friend

Tastefully-Placed Clutter Makes Rooms Feel More Lived-In

If you're trying to make a brand-new home, or something you might see on a silver screen, then it's easy enough to build clean, neat spaces with perfectly organized furniture and nothing out of its place.

What feels more natural for family-based living, though, especially if you've got little ones on the lot, is to place some of the wide selection of clutter items here, there, and everywhere around the home. Pop cutlery and fruit bowls on kitchen counters, accessories on dresser tops, and so much more to give the vibe that Paras actually live in that house you built.

Use Advanced Tools To Repurpose Items

Your Favorite Wall Art, Now As A Rug

While we've already spoken about the standard tools you can use to redesign the furniture you put into your Paras' homes, the advanced tools option gives you even more ways to customize the hundreds of items in the Buy catalog, potentially into something entirely new.

The three colorful circles that appear on your selected item when you use the advanced tool in Paralives can move and shape said item in more ways than adjusting its size with the arrows. Rotate items to make them look perfectly imperfect in a live-in home, put furniture at angles to create more unique rooms inside, and let your imagination run even more wild in the Buy catalog.

Terrain Tools Make Lots More Interesting

Plants And Pathways Feel Very Natural

The areas you can buy around Melino to build on in Paralives are gorgeous, but with so many various terrain tools available to you in Build mode, why not get a little more creative with the area outside your new house, too?

The terrtain tools in Paralives allow you to completely redo the natural areas on your owned lots. Add or remove grass and other greenery, place trees or flowers to bring life to the space, add some water features here and there, and experiment with the property to physically shape it into the lot of your dreams.
