Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door has quite a vibrant art-style with its unique bosses. The Blooper which apparently looks like a squid is among the first mini-bosses that you will come across during your adventure. Mario fans might recognize it from other entries in the franchise.

It isn't particularly hard to beat if you use the right moves during the fight, however, finding the hidden boss is a bit challenging. You need to beat the Blooper to progress through the main story of the game. After beating it, you can get to the Petal Meadows to start the first chapter of your journey.

How To Find The Blooper

You can find the Blooper inside the sewers after you enter through a pipe in Rogueport. You will spot the green pipe below Professor Frankly's house. When you enter it, you will reach the sewers, head right till you see a plane panel. Here you have to transform into a paper plane. Fly across the area till you land near a doorway.

Head inside the door, and you will see one of Blooper's Tentacles outside the water. Hit it with your Hammer. The mini-boss will appear ranting and raging. It will then proceed to attack you and the battle will commence.

How To Beat Blooper

The Blooper is an early-game boss that becomes easier to beat if you take down its tentacles first. Furthermore, its HP and other stats are low, so he really doesn't pose a challenge.

  • Attack: 1
  • Defense: 0
  • HP: 12

If you use action commands during your fight, you can inflict more damage or reduce damage taken.

First Phase

Both Blooper's Tentacles have three HP each. Start the battle by hitting the tentacle above the ground by jumping on it. You can press A right before your jump lands for an additional hit. After Mario's turn, use Goombelle's Headbonk to finish off the first Tentacle.

Second Phase

Blooper will now hit you with its second Tentacle on the ground. If you use an action command and block the attack right before it hits, you will not receive any damage at all. You have to now take it on by hitting it with your Hammer followed by Goombelle's attack.

If you have a Power Smash badge equipped, you can use the move to deal great damage and take down the tentacle in a single hit.

Third Phase

Blooper will now fall to the ground, making it your chance to inflict as much damage as you can. It will recover in the next turn, it will shoot some squid ink your way, and you can guard by pressing A right before it hits you. Finish off Blooper with a few more attacks till you emerge victorious.

You can use Fire Flower during the battle to take down its tentacles during the first turn, making the rest of the fight a breeze.

After you beat the Blooper, some platforms will emerge from the water, you have to jump across them till you reach a green pipe.Enter the green pipe to get to the Petal Meadows and start the first chapter of Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door.
