PostsIn Palworld, you'll come across diary entries from the Castaway. This figure is never seen, but their impact can be felt throughout the game. From the beginning stages of the game well into the late game content, the Castaway has something to say. Here's everything you need to know about the Castaway in the Palpagos Islands.
The Castaway's Arrival
The first journal the Castaway leaves details their discovery of the Palpagos Islands. Looking at the globe's geographical features, they noticed a spot that seemed to be missing something. After a bit more research, and months of preparation, the Castaway set off for where they guessed an island would be.
The island was shrouded in a thick fog that hid it from the rest of the world. Before the Castaway could safely dock, they were attacked and their boat was destroyed. They made it to shore, but were completely cut off from the outside world.
The Castaway found a strange device on the shore, the same kind that you'll find scattered all over the island. The device recorded images and writing and took notes on their discoveries to keep track of their expedition.
Shortly after arriving on the islands, the Castaway came into contact with strange creatures that the Castaway named "Pals". They also discovered a Pal Sphere and used it to capture their first Pal. With this Pal, they worked together to create shelter to provide security.
The Castaway, The Pals, And The Ancients
The Castaway uncovered ancient ruins and began to investigate them, learning to create Pal Spheres from the murals and symbols left behind. They also saved an injured Pal by rolling a Pal Sphere near it after learning the process for creating Pal Spheres.
Later, the Castaway witnessed a Pal riding on the back of an Eikthyrdeer and fashioned a saddle to do the same. This allowed them to traverse the world much faster.
Encountering Humans
In their travels, they encountered other humans. The Castaway tried to initiate conversation but found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun. Despite the humans appearing to be from the same era as the Castaway, the Castaway was unsure if they are from the outside world or if they originated from the Palpagos Islands.
Their Lamball Pal protected them and the Castaway fled back to base to regroup. The following day, as the Castaway embarked on reaching one of the towers, they were attacked by humans. In retaliation for the gunfire, the Castaway mobilized their Pals to launch a counterattack.
The Pals quickly overwhelmed the attackers and killed them, leaving the Castaway stunned. The Pals immediately returned to their bouncing, joyful selves as if nothing happened. The rest of the trek to the tower was done with more stealth to avoid conflicting groups of people–likely the Rayne Syndicate and Free Pal Alliance.
Reaching The Tower
The Castaway came to the conclusion that the different groups of people must be descended from the remnants of the Ancient Civilization. This idea was only furthered when the Castaway reached the Free Pal Alliance Tower and entered, finding a human riding a massive Pal inside.
The Castaway fled, noting that the energy flowing through the tower was similar to that of the energy in Paldium ore. They wondered if that power could be utilized in other ways–like the teleportation that can be done around the island and in the towers.
Through this energy, the Castaway also discovered a way to compress Pal Spheres further into the Palbox.
Compromising Morals
When the Castaway's rations ran out, they hunted a wild bird Pal and cooked it for dinner. They note that the island has a way of making one forget about ethics as the Pals eat other fallen Pals and humans. The Pals make great companions, so long as they are fed.
The Pals also demonstrated an interest in firearms, so the Castaway devised weapon designs to accommodate their size and stature. Several of the Pals seemed to almost enjoy having the firearms at their disposal, and the Castaway viewed this as a good thing for the battles to come.
