Geoff Keighley wanted to make it very clear ahead of 2023's Gamescom Opening Night Live that this year's show was more about expanding on games that had already been revealed rather than revealing projects we didn't previously know about. A fair warning to make as there is still so much more to come that we already know about in 2023. There were a few reveals sprinkled into ONL though, including a first look at Little Nightmares 3.

A third installment in the Little Nightmares series had only been rumored prior to ONL, so confirmation that it's real was a very welcome reveal to fans of the series. Little Nightmares 3 doesn't have a firm release date right now, but its Gamescom reveal trailer did confirm it will be here at some point in 2024, barring any delays, of course. Even though it doesn't have a release date yet, you can secure your copy by pre-ordering Little Nightmares 3 through the links below.

One of the more surprising early details revealed about the next Little Nightmares game was that it hasn't been developed by the same studio as the first two games in the series. Tarsier Studios developed the first two games but did make it clear after the launch of Little Nightmares 2 that it planned to focus on new and original IP. Evidently Bandai Namco, not wanting to let the series lie dormant, turned to Supermassive, a studio with a lot of experience in the horror genre, to make game number three.

Little Nightmares 3 is the third installment in Bandai Namco's Little Nightmares series. The first in the series to be developed by Supermassive, being handed the reigns by Tarsier Studios, its story focuses on characters Low and Alone as they try to escape The Nowhere. Launching in 2024, it will also be the first Little Nightmares game to include a co-op option.

Little Nightmares 3 will also be the first in the series to include a co-op option. Not just a co-op option, but the entire game has been built around co-op. The two main characters, Low and Alone, can be controlled by different players and are presumably present throughout the entire story. No confirmation yet on whether co-op will be online-only, and an AI will control the other character if you'd prefer to play alone.

Little Nightmares 3 doesn't appear to include any pre-order bonuses, regardless of the retailer you buy from, but at $40, it's a lot cheaper than a lot of the big games releasing in 2024. Do be sure you secure a copy on the right platform should you use the links above to place a pre-order. Little Nightmares 3 is launching on pretty much everything, including PS5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
