After trekking through the game and defeating multiple bosses, you’ll finally reach the throne room in Little Witch Nobeta. However, when you find it, you’ll come in contact with Vanessa, another enemy standing in your way. You’ll need to fight her, but this battle can be difficult.

Since defeating Vanessa poses challenges and can be hard for people, you should consider using a guide. Doing so can help you fight against Vanessa, understand the best strategies, and defeat her. Even though fighting a formidable foe takes time and practice, you’ll make it easier as you understand what you can do during the fight.
If you defeat Vanessa, you’ll continue through the Point Of No Return. If you want to collect anything else in the castle or explore it, take care of it before you fight Vanessa.
Preparation
If you plan to defeat this boss, you’ll need to prepare and see how to give yourself an advantage in this fight.
Items
You should go with the following items if you only have four item slots.
Item
Why You Should Choose It
Health Restore
You need an easy way to restore your health between attacks, so go with a health item to keep you going.
Mana Restore
You should only bring one mana item in case you run out of mana during the fight. This most likely won’t be a problem unless you miss too many attacks or don’t have enough points in Strength or MP.
Defense Boost
Save this one for a later fight, but you'll want to bring it with you. If you find the fight challenging, you can get a second defense boost, use it for Vanessa, and save it for later.
Even though you have other items you can use, such as AOE heals, you shouldn’t use them in this fight. You’ll want to save any defense boosts you come across for the final boss, and Vanessa moves around a ton, making AOE heals challenging to use.
You should avoid curse value items if you haven’t used your soul essence. On the other hand, those items can work great for this fight if you don’t care about your remaining essence.
Leveling Up
As you look into leveling up, you’ll want to focus on a few stats.
- Stamina: Since Vanessa is a fast opponent, you’ll want plenty to dodge her attacks. She can close into you and unleash powerful moves, so you may need to dodge multiple times. Aim for about level 30 with your Stamina.
- Intelligence: Always boost your Intelligence since it’ll help you deal more damage. Even though Vanessa is fast, she lacks health, so you’ll want to maximize your damage.
- Dexterity: The same applies to your charge speed. The faster you can charge attacks, the more damage you’ll deal to your enemy.
Since it’s a shorter battle, you won’t have to worry as much about MP and Strength since you shouldn’t run low on Mana. On top of that, Vanessa attacks a lot, meaning you can restore your Mana through Mana Absorption or dodging.
Put some points in HP if you find the battle challenging. A few more points can make a difference and help you survive longer.
The First Phase
As soon as the fight starts, Vanessa will start moving around and utilizing powerful attacks to defeat you.
- She dashes toward you and tries to slash you with her sword. You should dodge to the side or toward the camera. Dodging to the side can help you regain Mana, while toward the camera can help you get some distance.
- She’ll also charge an attack and shoot a line of spears across the ground. She’ll also charge toward you with a thrust, then have a line of spears behind her. Simply dodge to the side for both of these attacks.
The Second Phase
Vanessa’s second phase will start when she drops below half health.
- She stabs the ground, and multiple spears will travel toward you in a line. You have to keep dodging away from the spears until they stop tracking you.
- She stabs the ground; then, circles fill the room. Wait for the move to activate, then roll toward Vanessa to dodge the move.
- She slashes toward you and shootsthree spears at you. This one requires you to dodge to the side to avoid it.
- After her stab attack, she’ll shoot more spears at you, so dodge through the spears or away from them.
- She flips toward you, slams the ground, and raises spears around her. Just dodge away from her.
The next section discusses an additional fight, though it's a spoiler. Ensure you hold off on it until you reach the light pillar in the Spirit Realm.
Vanessa’s Second Fight
Once you reach Vanessa again, you must look into the following moves.
- Vanessa spawns crystals on the ground that explode after a bit, so just stand away from them and dodge as needed.
- She launches blasts into the air, so you should dodge away from Vanessa to avoid the attack.
- She leaps into the air and thrusts at you. She has another attack where she shoots a laser at you. Simply dodge to the side for both.
How To Defeat Vanessa
Now that you know what moves to expect from Vanessa, you should utilize this general game plan to help you defeat her.
The Step
What It Involves
Why You Should Do It
Spell Use
You’ll want to use the charged fire spell during this fight. Try the standard ice, fire, or thunder spells if the fire spell doesn't work.
The charged fire spell deals tons of damage and is easy to aim. Since Vanessa dashes around a ton, you won’t want to go with a charged ice spell since she’ll avoid it. You can go with a standard ice spell, but ensure you have enough Intelligence, or it won’t damage you. Fire and thunder can also deal solid damage.
Stamina And Dodging
Get into the habit of dodging multiple times in a row but don’t let your Stamina run low.
Vanessa has fast attacks that can take multiple rolls for you to dodge properly. You should keep your stamina above 50 percent to prepare for these attacks. If you find yourself running out of Stamina, you should put some points into it to let you roll more.
Keep Your Distance
Stand on the other side of the room when possible.
Vanessa’s attacks require her to get close to you or clearly telegraph she plans to attack you. If you stand back, you can see when she plans to make a ranged attack while also paying attention to her dodging toward you.
Time Your Item Use
Since Vanessa doesn’t have much health, avoid using items if possible.
You can get by without items in this fight, so avoid using powerful items. You’ll need them for tougher boss fights later in the game. However, if you want to use items during this fight, you should grab a few cursed value items. You can also purchase items from the Goddess Statue.
Additional Tips For Fighting Vanessa
As you fight Vanessa and use the game plan, you’ll want to remember some crucial tips to help you survive and get past these fights.
- You have a Goddess Statue nearby, so feel free to use it to refill items, level up, or break pots for the cursed value items.
- Interacting with the Statue will respawn the enemies, so feel free to return the way you came to fight enemies and get more Soul Essence if you find yourself under-leveled.
- This fight can be challenging, so it doesn’t hurt to not use items for the first few attempts and get a feel for the moves. Doing so will help you learn the timing and prepare for your attempt.
