As you play throughLittle Witch Nobeta, you’ll need to defeat multiple bosses. Even though you may think the first boss can be easy, you may not find that to be the case on Advanced Difficulty, which is, despite the misleading name, the game’s standard difficulty level.

As you approach the Mysterious Specter Armor, you’ll need to understand how to properly dodge attacks, utilize your charge spells, and learn its patterns to survive. You may find this battle challenging if you aren’t comfortable with the game’s mechanics, so get a feel for them and learn how to tackle the boss.

Preparation

You’ll naturally need to prepare for the fight, so keep some tips in mind.

Items

Before the fight starts, you should collect as many items as possible. You can get a few healing items, a mana crystal, and a defense crystal. While you should have the defense crystal, do your best to hold off on using it, as you'll probably need it for next boss fight.

You can grab a bag expansion in the first area, near the second Goddess Statue. You’ll need to go up the stairs and go to the left side (if you’re facing the statue) and jump to it. You can reach it by sprinting, jumping, and performing two staff attacks immediately to hop the gap. You’ll find it in a chest.

With that in mind, you should keep one of the defense crystals in your pouch for later, then get two healing items and two mana items if possible.

If you run low on health items, feel free to use the curse value ones. Since you won’t have much excess soul essence if you lose to the boss, you may as well utilize those healing items to help you through the fight. They’ll be in pots near the Goddess Statue, and you’ll find a few more to the left before you enter the boss room.

Leveling Up

Since you can grind some soul essence and increase your stats, you’ll want to focus on a few things to level up before fighting the Mysterious Specter Armor:

  • Upgrade your Stamina early, so you can dodge more.
  • Focus on Intelligence, so you’ll boost your damage, meaning you can defeat the boss faster.
  • Work on your Strength, so you’ll restore your mana faster.
  • You can also work on Dexterity to help you charge your attacks faster, lowering the odds of the boss attacking.

Since you’re early in the game, putting points into HP and MP won’t matter as much. However, you can benefit from them if you find it hard to charge or stay alive during a fight. If you keep losing, do a bit of grinding and put points into HP and MP.

The Start Of The Fight

The Mysterious Specter will usually go for a physical attack at the start. It’ll hold its weapon into the air and either slash or thrust it. When you see this happening, you should wait until you hear a sound effect indicating it’s time to dodge.

The Specter will usually perform only two attacks in a row, though it could do three based on the circumstances. Just play it safe and keep your Stamina up, so you won’t have any problems.

Avoid dodging early since you’ll run your Stamina low and can get hit between your invincibility frames.

As for attacking the Specter, you’ll want to follow a few steps.

  • Immediately charge your Arcane magic.
  • Walk and wait for the chance to dodge out of the way of attacks.
  • Unleash the Arcane magic as soon as you can.

The Specter won’t move out of the way quickly, so you can hold the aim button and fire. The boss may shoot some projectiles at you, so watch for them.

Second Phase

The boss will become more challenging when the second phase starts. It begins when you drop it below 50 percent health. You’ll see the Specter glow, indicating an increase in power. It’ll use similar moves that deal more damage, and can come out faster.

Despite that point, you can still listen for the sound effect to know when to push the dodge button. Instead of anticipating the attack, you should dodge it as soon as you hear it, since it'll help you dodge the move more reliably.

Also, the melee attacks will gain projectiles. Even if you stand far away, watch for those projectiles, since they move fast. Dodge slightly before they reach you to avoid the damage.

However, the boss will mostly use long-range attacks at this point, including lasers, so don’t get too close to the boss. For example, it'll have one move where it slams the ground with its weapon while shooting a laser across the area simultaneously, so you need to dodge immediately.

The Game Plan

Now that you understand what you should expect from each phase, you’ll want a general game plan to help you through it.

Game Plan Point

What It Is

Why You Should Do It

Constantly Charge

You should consistently charge your Arcane attack every moment, even if you run out of Mana.

You’ll deal more damage with your charged attack than your standard blasts. Even though it costs Mana and takes time to charge, the fight will go faster if you utilize it.

Stand Far Away

You should keep a considerable distance between you and the Specter.

Most of the Specter's strong attacks are close-range, so you’ll make the fight easier if you stand farther back. Do your best to stand on the other side of the arena. That way, the Specter will need to dash toward you if it wants to attack you with melee hits.

Don’t Fear Dodging

You should dodge through an attack whenever you run low on Mana, even if you’re in the middle of charging.

Dodging through an attack will restore some of your Mana, so don’t be afraid to dodge. You can also charge the attack faster if you have Mana, making it worth doing at any point. Always dodge to the left or right since the boss attacks in a straight line.

Using Items

Don’t use items until you’re below half-health. You should also only use it right after an attack.

You can drop items if you try to use them and get attacked. Ensure you hold off on healing, since the Specter will wait a few seconds after attacking before performing another move. You can also cancel out of the healing animation by dodging if the enemy starts an attack.

Additional Tips

Since the fight won’t always go as you plan, you’ll want to remember some additional tips to help you through the battle, survive, and take down this initial boss.

  • Don’t be afraid to restart the game on Standard Mode for your first playthrough. Doing so lets you deal more damage, take less damage, and restore your mana faster. Once you know what to do, it only takes about 10 minutes to get back to this part.
  • When you see a projectile attack coming toward you, and you’re low on Mana, dodge into it. Doing so will restore some of your Mana.
  • Feel free to enter the settings and change the Camera View to five. Doing so will zoom out the camera more, making it easier to see things around you and react.
  • If you struggle with dodging, don’t be afraid to spam the dodge button if you have plenty of Stamina to spare.
  • Don’t bother charging another Arcane attack if the boss has barely any health left. Just use a few quick blasts to take it out.
