To survive in Little Witch Nobeta, you must become more powerful and level your stats. While you can strengthen your spells by finding upgrades throughout the game, you can’t do the same if you want to increase your stats.

You’ll need to know which stats to focus on while knowing how to gain soul essence, so you’ll fight through enemies and continue through the game. However, knowing where to focus your efforts may be challenging. With that in mind, you can utilize a guide to know which stats matter and how to collect more soul essence.

Stat Upgrades Explained

You'll want to start by reviewing the various stat upgrades, understand what they offer, and see which ones you should prioritize.

Stat Upgrade

What It Does

How Much Should You Prioritize It

HP

It increases your HP by six.

HP isn't too critical of a stat once you put some points in it. You should just play it by ear: if enemies are doing too much damage, put some points into your HP. You can keep putting points into your HP if it's a low-cost option. After all, if you focus on other choices, you'll find it falling behind and have the costs lower, meaning you can use the leftover soul essence to boost it.

MP

It increases your MP by six.

MP is a crucial stat, but you won't worry as much once you have a solid Mana pool. Put some points into it early to cover your needs. You should boost it like HP if it starts falling behind. You can also put points into it if you want to cast more spells overall without needing to dodge or perform melee attacks.

Stamina

It increases your Stamina by three.

One of the most important stats, especially early on. You'll use it for sprinting and dodging, so you need to keep this stat up throughout the game. Once you reach about level 30 on it, points won't matter as much, but you should make it a priority early. Feel free to add more points if it falls behind the other stats. Even though you may not need those additional stats, you can use any excess soul essence on Stamina to get a few more dodges.

Strength

You increase the damage of your melee attacks, boost your mana regeneration, and increase your aiming stability.

This stat may seem useless, since melee attacks aren't usually worth using, but its usefulness comes from the other stat boosts. For example, the higher your mana regeneration, the less you'll need to use physical attacks in combat. On top of that, the stronger your melee attacks, the more Mana you'll restore. You can also synergize Strength with your Fire aura to deal tons of damage against some enemies. The aiming stability also makes a difference. Each attack will cause your aim to rise slowly when you first start, meaning you'll have to adjust it accordingly.

Intelligence

You increase your magic damage.

It never hurts to put points into your Intelligence. You want to maximize your damage. In this game, a good offense is a good defense, so defeating enemies by using fewer attacks will help you survive. Generally speaking, you'll want to put levels into Intelligence every time you go to a Statue. Eventually, you can take out most enemies with a single attack and spend less time battling against bosses. The less time you spend in combat, the less damage you'll take, so always work on your Intelligence.

Dexterity

You boost your spell charge speed and increase your aura duration.

This is always a helpful upgrade. Since you'll want to use charge shots against bosses, having the extended aura and fast speed can make a difference. You'll want to upgrade it until it only takes two or three seconds to channel your spell. You can utilize them as needed while lowering the risk of losing your charge.

If you want a general guideline for tackling your level-ups, you can follow this order to make deciding your upgrades easier.

  1. Intelligence
  2. Stamina
  3. Dexterity
  4. Strength
  5. MP
  6. HP

However, this can vary based on your play style. For example, if you don't use charge attacks often, you may not want to bother with Dexterity. On the other hand, if you don't run low on Mana, you don't need to put as many points into Strength or MP.

Even though some stats matter more than others, don't neglect any of them. Since each costs more to level up as you put more points into it, use that to balance your stats a bit. If one stat starts to fall behind, leveling it up won't prevent you from getting other stat boosts, so you might as well upgrade it.

The Location

The Path You'll Follow

Estimated Soul Essence Gain

Okun Shrine - Central Hall

Run back into the previous room you arrived from where you saved the Kitty. You can fight about six or so enemies here, then return to the statue.

About 50 per enemy, leading to about 300 soul essence.

Okun Shrine - Underground Grand Hall

Leave the room and return to the room with the fire puzzle. You can defeat the enemies here, leave through the pathway, and drop to the lower level. Defeat the dozen or so enemies down here, then make your way back to the statue.

About 600 soul essence.

Lava Ruins - Dead End

Continue down the path toward the boss. A large enemy with scissors will spawn if you run toward the boss fight. If you defeat this enemy with charged attacks, it'll only take about half a minute to fight.

About 200 soul essence, but since this path only takes about 45 seconds to complete, you can easily farm over 1,000 soul essence in under five minutes.

Dawnruin Castle - Throne Room

You'll leave the statue, go to the other side of the staircase, and enter the door leading to the Okun Shrine - Secret Passage. You'll head forward, fight the enemies in the first room, then enter the second room to the left. You can either keep going through the area or return to the Goddess Statue and heal.

Between 1,000 and 1,500 soul essence.

Spirit Realm - Crossroads

Go to the riht and enter the stone structure. You can travel through this area, fight all the enemies, and then return to the statue.

About 2,000 soul essence.

Abyss - Crossroads

You'll have three teleporters before you, so use the left one. You'll have a few powerful enemies in the area from the Underground Cave farming point. Follow the same path, and know that you can only harm the stone enemies with melee attacks.

About 1,500 soul essence.

General Soul Essence Farming Tips

If you need additional help with your soul essence, you should utilize soul essence farming tips.

  • Feel free to use as much Mana as you want while you fight enemies. Since you'll restore your HP and MP after you return to the shrine, you can spend soul essence while saving your progress.
  • Don't use any curse value items. You'll lose some of your soul essence if you die while fighting. Generally speaking, you should avoid using items since you'll want to save them for boss fights.
  • Don't be afraid to return to the shrine and heal if you run low on health. That way, you won't waste time respawning at the shrine or losing soul essence if you happened to use curse value items.
  • Not only will you heal when you use statues, but the enemies will respawn. You can then use them to not only heal yourself but to bring the enemies back, so you can keep farming until you get enough experience for your needs.
