A new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 character spotlight trailer for Lucy Loud has sadly revealed that her brother Lincoln Loud, the main character of his own dang show, has been downgraded to a stage cameo.

As is typical for a fighting game and especially for a platform fighter, most of the discussion surrounding Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 over the past few months has been about its roster. While there are lots of highly-requested new additions like Squidward, El Tigre, and Jimmy Neutron, there have sadly also been a lot of cuts, with at least 11 fighters confirmed to have been removed between the first game and the sequel.

Although character being cut between fighting game entries is incredibly normal for the genre, fans aren't too happy about who has been chosen to be removed and who has stayed, since some of the cuts are a bit confusing. Perhaps the most confusing of all is Lincoln Loud, the main character of one of the most popular shows that Nickelodeon has had since SpongeBob SquarePants first debuted, and a generally well-liked fighter in the first game.

Despite this mass appeal, key art for the game and Azula being called the "final character reveal" last week seems to have confirmed that Lincoln Loud has been removed from All-Star Brawl 2 in favour of his sister, Lucy Loud. Well, if Lincoln's removal wasn't painful enough already for you, then you might not want to take a close look at the character spotlight for Lucy, which was just shared a few days ago.

As pointed out by Redditor MrT0pHat on the Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl subreddit, Lincoln Loud actually does make an appearance in Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2... as a stage cameo. That's right, if you look closely at the Loud Castle stage, you can spot Lincoln staring out of the window, wondering why he wasn't asked to return to the brawl this time around.

Lincoln isn't the only character that has been given the stage cameo downgrade treatment, either. Helga from Hey Arnold can be spotted walking around in the spotlight trailer for Gertie, Arnold's grandmother, which was also taken as deconfirmation of her making an appearance at the time.

On the plus side, at least Lincoln and Helga have made any kind of appearance at all in All-Star Brawl 2, but it also feels a little bit like rubbing salt in the wound for the players who wanted them to return for the fight. It looks like we'll have to wait and see what the game's first DLC pack brings to know for sure.
