PostsBalloons are a necessity if you're going to create a flying vehicle. Typically used to make objects float, balloons are perfect for creating an aircraft that can zoom over to any corner of the island. However, they're made of materials you can't easily create at a crafting bench, so you'll need to jump through a few hoops first.
How To Craft Balloons
To unlock the crafting recipe for Small and Large Balloons, you'll need one Silk Fabric in your inventory.
You can craft a Small Balloon with the following ingredients:
Small Balloon Recipe
1x Silk Fabric
1x Cord
1x Torch
While a Large Balloon can be crafted with the following:
Large Balloon Recipe
2x Silk Fabric
1x Cord
1x Torch
Large balloons function the same as normal balloons, but they can lift objects more easily than smaller balloons.
To get Silk Fabrics, you'll need to craft a Loom to create Silk Fabric from five Silk threads.
You can obtain Silk Threads from a Spinning Wheel by using one Silk, which is dropped by spiders.
How To Use Balloons
Balloons can be attached to structures and dynamic objects. When enough balloons are attached to a dynamic object, it will be sent flying upward.
If an object is not dynamic, it won't fly away when balloons are attached.
To make a non-dynamic object fly, you must place it on top of another object. Afterward, attach balloons to the object on top, then destroy the lower object to make it lift off the ground.
Bigger objects require more balloons that have to be evenly distributed to prevent them from wobbling in the air.
You can land a flying object by destroying balloons or placing down structures.
However, destroying a balloon does not give you any materials back.
