Set Items in Last Epoch are unique pieces of equipment that, when equipped together, grant powerful bonuses. Traditionally, these items had fixed stats, limiting customization. However, with the Tombs of the Erased update, players can now extract Set bonuses and apply them to other gear, allowing for more customization.

This new system involves shattering Set Items into Set Affix Shards and reforging them onto compatible gear, creating "Reforged" items that retain the Set bonus. To access this crafting feature, you must engage with the endgame Woven Faction, complete specific Echoes, and progress through the Woven Faction's content, unlocking the Forge of Shattering.

The Tombs of the Erased update introduced significant enhancements to endgame progression, including new crafting systems, the Woven Faction, and expanded Monolith content.

Getting Started: How To Obtain Set Affix Shards

To begin crafting Set Items in Last Epoch, you'll first need to acquire Set Affix Shards. These are obtained by shattering existing Set Items at the Forge of Shattering. The Forge becomes accessible through the Great Bridge Woven Echo, which is available after you join the Woven faction.

To join the Woven faction, you'll need to progress through the Monolith of Fate until you encounter a special Echo known as the Cemetery of the Erased. These Cemeteries are unique Echoes that can appear as you advance through the Monolith. Within a Cemetery Echo, you'll find an entrance to the Cemetery of the Erased.

Navigate through this area and defeat the mini-boss at the end to complete the Echo.

Upon completing your first Cemetery of the Erased, a portal will open to the Haven of Silk, the hub for the Woven faction. Here, you'll meet Masque, the primary NPC for the Woven.

Speaking with Masque will grant you membership in the Woven faction.

Notably, joining the Woven does not restrict you from participating in other factions, like the Merchant's Guild or the Circle of Fortune; you can progress in multiple factions simultaneously.

Set Affix Shards cannot be applied to Unique items with Legendary Potential or Legendary gear.

How To Craft: Shattering Sets For Affixes

Once you've ventured through the Great Bridge Woven Echo, you'll find a flowery stone forge at the end of the map. Here, at the Forge of Shattering, you can dismantle unwanted Set Items to extract their unique Set Affix Shards.

These shards retain the original Set's bonus and can be applied to same-type gear. Then they can be applied to Rare or Exalted items of the same type.

With your Set Affix Shards in hand, you can now apply them to appropriate gear using the crafting interface.

  1. Click on the Forge of Shattering to open the menu.
  2. Place the Set Items you want to shatter.
  3. Press "Shatter", and pick up the dropped shards from the ground.
  4. Open your Crafting Interface by pressing "F".
  5. Choose a Rare or Exalted item of the same type as the original Set Item.
  6. Add the Set Affix Shard to the item, creating a "Reforged" item that retains the Set bonus.
  7. You can further customize the item by adding or upgrading other affixes.

For example, suppose you have a Ruby Fang Cleaver, a one-handed axe that's part of a set. You can shatter it into a Set Affix Shard and apply it to another one-handed axe, creating a Reforged item that retains the set bonus.

Tips For Getting Set Gear

If you’re looking to stock up on Set Items for shattering, there are a few good tricks to make the hunt easier. Whether you’re buying, farming, or rolling the dice, there are plenty of ways to snag what you need.

Merchant's Guild

One of the easiest ways to get Set Items. Once you hit Rank 2 in the Merchant's Guild, you can buy them directly from the Bazaar.

Circle of Fortune

If you’re more into hunting for your loot, this faction is another great option. At Rank 4, you’ll find that when Set Items drop from mobs, they’ll come as full sets, saving you a ton of time.

Targeted Farming

Certain bosses have specific Set drops, like the Shattered Lance set from God Hunter Argentus in the Stolen Lance Timeline. If you’re already running Echoes, you might get lucky there too, since Set Items can pop up as random Echo rewards.

Rune of Ascendance

If you're feeling lucky, you can use a Rune of Ascendanceon a rare item to turn it into a random Unique or Set item of the same type. It’s a bit of a gamble, but sometimes it really pays off.
