When you’re hatching from a Mysterious Egg on Luma Island, you never really know what you’re going to get. Your first Luma is absolutely going to be a surprise, and you’re either going to get something really cool, weird, or cute that you’ll undoubtedly get overly attached to, or you’ll get a Luma that you absolutely hate.

We all have to start from somewhere.
PostsYou’re probably crossing your fingers for one of the best Lumas - the ones that are cool, cute, or so bizarre that you have to have them. Given that every Luma serves the same purpose of producing Luma Energy and finding treasure, aesthetics are everything for these buddies.
10 Beetle
Kind Of Looks Like A Samurai…
The Beetle may not be a fantasy creature, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a fun Luma to have. Depending on your aesthetic and the things you like, you may find the Beetle oddly cute, if not outright cool-looking, which makes the Beetle a fun reward if this happens to be your mystery egg Luma.
This Beetle reflects different periods of samurai armor, with its branching antlers and the bushy mustache, although the 16th and 17th centuries of samurai armor are where you can see most of the Beetle’s warrior resemblance. This Luma is also unique in that its bright coloring makes it pretty easy to see as it toddles around your farm.
9 Snail
The Speediest Snail Ever
This snail’s pace is probably faster than you can move, so that particular turn of phrase no longer holds as much weight with this Luma. The Snail Luma is super dorky looking, to the point where if you asked what’s going on between those eyes the answer would be “absolutely nothing.”
That, and the skateboard, are the charm of this weird-looking Luma. While the snail wouldn’t be the route to go if you prefer a more natural-looking aesthetic, it’s the route to go if you prefer things that are just a little bit funny-looking and also kind of ironic.
8 Mushroom
For The Cottagecore Lovers
The Mushroom Luma is going to be hit or miss, depending on who you are and what you like. On one hand, it’s an adorable mushroom that just waddles around your farm, with its too-big hat and its little round body.
On the other hand, it happens to be one of the more “humanoid” looking Lumas and that can be incredibly off-putting for some people. However, may the power of mushrooms overcome any kind of odd feelings about this Luma’s design, because having a walking mushroom who loves you and also helps out here and there is absolutely a dream come true for cottagecore lovers.
7 Lizard
This Is Just A Nerdy T-Rex
Let’s be honest, this “Lizard” is just a dinosaur, right? It even has the build of a T-Rex straight out of Jurrasic Park… aside from the rounded bump running down the length of his spine and the glasses perched on his nose.

If you want to reach the Forest, you'll need to get the town's bridge repaired.
PostsFrankly, rather than dangerous, this “Lizard” actually appears to be quite friendly and helpful too. The sad thing is just his little arms and that he’ll probably have a hard time picking things up (fortunately, picking things up isn’t something that Lumas really need to do).
6 Unicorn
Friendship Is Definitely Magical
If you liked My Little Pony as a child (or even as an adult, no judgment here) then you’re probably going to like having the Unicorn Luma wandering around. You don’t even necessarily have to like My Little Pony (just liking horses or unicorns is good enough), but with this Luma’s pony-like features and big, round eyes, it definitely helps.
Plus, as a fantasy creature, it also makes sense that this Luma would produce magical energy that can be used to help you craft things and progress further in your careers of choice.
5 Deer Rabbit
A Jackalope, But Cuter
Jackalopes are mythical creatures, specifically rabbits with antelope antlers sprouting from the tops of their heads, that originated in Wyoming during the Great Depression. While you’ll never find a Jackalope in real life (aside from whatever people have managed to cobble together during a taxidermy session) you can find this Deer Rabbit in Luma Island.
This Deer Rabbit isn’t particularly realistic looking, but perhaps that’s what makes it all the more adorable. Small, fuzzy, pink, and with eyes that were absolutely made to make you feel guilty for not handing over 500 treats every single day.
4 Dragon
Who Wouldn’t Want A Dragon?
Dragons are classic fantasy creatures, fierce and mighty kings of the sky and the land. They collect and hoard their treasures, keeping themselves and their hoards isolated from larger populations. As fierce and dangerous as they may be, however, there is very little that is cooler than having an entire dragon that’s not only small but loves you.
The Dragon Luma will not only defend you and your coop from the foxes that threaten your chicken, but it will also help you find treasure when you inevitably go out treasure hunting so you can progress the game beyond those first few slow steps.
3 Hydra
You Only Have Two Hands To Pet Three Heads
The Hydra is tiny and fierce and it has three different heads, each one of them (no matter how fierce) just absolutely begging for you to pet it and share the love. Unfortunately, you only have two hands, so they’re going to have to wait their turns.

If you want all the best materials, you'll need upgraded tools to get them.
PostsBecause of this unique design, however, the Hydra is one of the more interesting and unique Lumas, even among the other fantasy Lumas you can collect. The Hydra is firmly in the fantasy category and it has a fierce reputation as a dangerous monster, even if it will never actually grow up to be a more dangerous monster.
2 Gryphon
Fiercely Adorable
Composed of an eagle and a lion, the Gryphon is undoubtedly a fierce ally and an even fierce opponent, but thankfully as one of the many Lumas the Gryphon is guaranteed to be your ally. While the only thing the Gryphon Luma may end up fighting is the foxes terrorizing your coop-based animals, its help is still greatly appreciated.
Somehow, despite being such a force to be reckoned with, however, this fantasy Luma is adorable. How something can look so fierce and yet so adorable is absolutely beyond the bounds of human explanation.
1 Worm
Would You Still Love Them If They Weren’t A Worm?
The most baffling, bizarre, and unexpected Luma of the lot is the Worm Luma which also seems to basically be half balloon so it can float around places. This worm is probably the most helpful worm to ever exist beyond the stretches of worm society, and it far surpasses any of the expectations of worm science.
Despite being so minimalistic, one cannot help but look at the worm and love them with reckless abandon, to the point where you might want to hunt down every Luma Egg just to find this little buddy. If you still have questions about why, just look deep into this worm’s little eyes and you will understand everything as every question you’ve had about “Would you still love me if I was a worm?” is answered.
