The long-awaited proper Switch 2 port of the Kingdom Hearts collection has finally been officially revealed at today's big Nintendo Direct, and it's coming this October.

Ever since the Nintendo Switch 2 was first revealed and proved that it had the power to handle big triple-A games, the floodgates opened for a ton of potential ports. Square Enix has already proven with the Final Fantasy 7 remake games that it's going to support the Switch 2, and that's left Kingdom Hearts fans desperate to see the series on the system.

Of course, we did kind of get that some time ago with the Kingdom Hearts Cloud Edition for the original Switch, but it really wasn't what anyone was asking for. It's been rumoured for a while now that a proper Switch 2 port was in the works, and that's just been confirmed during the Nintendo Direct.

Kingdom Hearts Is Coming To The Switch 2 This October

A Full Series Replay Will Tide Us Over Until Kingdom Hearts 4

I had started to lose hope for Kingdom Hearts ports showing up at the Nintendo Direct, but it surprised us all by appearing right near the end with a proper port collection for Switch 2. It surprisingly includes Kingdom Hearts 3 (and Remind, at that) alongside the other games, and it'll be launching this October. There's even a free demo to go alongside it!

Of course, as great as the news of a Switch 2 port for the Kingdom Hearts series is, the real big news was a new trailer for Kingdom Hearts 4.

Interestingly, it seems like the new collection, fittingly titled I - III, isn't just for the Switch 2. The official trailer on YouTube and a post highlighting it on the Kingdom Hearts Twitter account confirms that it's also coming to PS5 and Xbox, suggesting that it's a new native release for those consoles as well.

It's not clear why the new collection is coming to those consoles since there's surely not much that can be improved from the previous remasters, but it could suggest that Kingdom Hearts 3 is getting some tweaks for the system. Or, it's just another way to buy the original games. We'll have to wait and see what Square says about this new release.

There's No Excuse For Kingdom Hearts Not To Be Native On Switch 2

With the Switch 2 being a more powerful console, Kingdom Hearts shouldn't have to be cloud-based anymore.
